Does anyone know anything about white calcite?
I have a sphere of it that I found in the local hippie store. There were several displayed, and a few gave off a tingling sensation when my sister or I touched them. I bought the one that was the strongest, intending to learn scrying. I didn't get much out of that, but the sphere sort of turbo-charged my chakras. It also has worked wonders absorbing illness from me.
I don't know why. Not everyone can sense the tingling, either. My best friend and my little sister, who are semi-magickal and anti-magickal respectively, can both pick up on it. A magickal friend of mine (practically my mentor) cannot.
Has anyone had any experiences like this? Or perhaps know if this is a property of white calcite?

Calcite: Abundant crystal that comes in shades of white, gray, black, green, yellow, blue, brown, or red. Beneficial for the cleansing organs, bones, joints, and for sharpening mental clarity. Helps boost memory. Helps one draw more insight from books or personal experience by making important information easier to remember. Soft. Athletes use Calcite because they feel it can aid the bones and joints that are stressed or injured during practice or competition. Calcite is strongly recommended for those involved in the healing professions. No not everyone can feel the power of gems. You have to be open to it for sure. The tingling, coolness, or hotness, are generally what is felt.

My pleasure. I went to a spiritual shop today to add to my gem collection and to look at some new books. I also found out that calcite aids in grounding excess energies, and is valuable in making astral travel easier.

lol you are so funny. Incubus and succubus, sounds good to me LOL! I am thinking about getting a few. I want to do some research on them first. One is the Book of Shadows; for wiccan, another is The Ancient Trees; from celtics, and the new Magickal Herbs from Scott Cunningham. I asked him to put them on hold. I think the owner of the shop may be joining this forum soon!

Yup that is correct. Good old Succubus! Astral entity that engages in astral lovemaking. Although commonly refered to as the femal astral raper, that is incorrect and I personally consider it derogitory. Incubus and Succubus are male and female astral lovemakers only. lol. I gave it to him because he has much knowledge to be learnt. His shop is full of wonderful energy and he is into all of these things. If you send me a copy of your flyer I will put some up in his shop too. If you want that is.

Just did a quick search on calcite properties, seems different colours have different properties: Lime green uses soothing for the spirit. Yellow cleanses toxins from the body, Clear is clearer vision and general cleansing, . Blue eases back pain. Orange is for happiness and great humour, white improves memory. Sundog.

Well it comes from the ancients mosty. For chakra purposes you can feel the resinating stronger in certain areas that is for sure. And your throat chakra, for example, effects your speech, and so these stones for that chakra will help you with what is associated with the chakras. Some stones will take in your energies better then others too. Like tourmaline will take in negative energies better then rose quartz. You can feel it. Can feel the resinating in stones? I know that the sodalite i bought today is extremly vibrational, as I feel it stronger then most others. And when I place it near my brow, it fills me and opens me up! When I place 7 or more stones along my body, i barely have to concentrate to open my centres. They fill me with the buz. So I guess it all comes from years and years of practice trial and error from many cultures. Of coarse there is false info out there and so I try to use the best books and resources avail.

You are right to question the origin of such meanings Lilac. I just did a search for the calcite and picked the first relevant site, can't even remember what it was called. Incubus has the right idea by researching ancient literature which is intended as reference for knowledge. Such information can be further verified by cross checking against different cultures and countries. It is amazing how often ancient societies connect with each other. For example, most early civilisations had their Shaman or Witch doctor or Cheif Druid - all different titles doing the same thing - healing, but what I find interesting is that they all had the ability to project out of body. Although we are a modern technologically advanced society, I think that we have forgotten a lot of important stuff. It's good that sites like this exist as a source of learning and knowledge sharing. Incubus, I would be interested in the details of the book 'The Ancient Trees' that you mentioned so that I can source a copy. I am a woodcarver ( I don't cut down trees though, I use stuff that I find felled by nature), I have an affinity with wood, just as you seem to have a special bond with stone. Which leads me to wonder whether different people have different affinities. Like, is there such a thing as tree people, stone people, sea people maybe. Just a thought! Sundog.

Well Sundog, the ancient trees of the celts looks like a great book. It goes into detail about the myths, lore, and magick of trees. For example a Hawthorn is said to hold the doorway to the fairy realm, and you must get permission to enter through it. I absolutely love trees. I don't do any carving though, but i've heard that the Tulip tree and Basswood, make exceptional subjects for this. The book tells of how to implement the aspects of trees into your ritual magick. For example ash leaves in your pocket will help to attract the one you desire. It also tells of the old celtic calender, and give you your hororscopes as well. But it is full of this information. I will get the name of the author as I forgot to write it down, lol. I go there often so I'll see.

Now that you mention it Lilac, I often dream of being in deep forests, lord of the rings type - big & dark, but I feel no fear! Incubus, the Hawthorn is greatly associated with fairies here in Ireland. The Fairy thorn in particular . It is traditional, especially the further south you travel, for children to write notes of wishes and leave them in the middle of the tree. It is also fatal for anyone to cut down a fairy thorn, there are many stories relating to this. One story, which can be verified by people today, happened in the late '60s in the town that I live in. A contractor was removing a fairy thorn during the construction of the local high school. He was trying to pull it out with a wire cable attached to his tractor, the cable snapped and decapitated him! So respect the thorn! Another interesting tree is the Alder, associated with witchcraft and black magic because of the deep redness found when it is cut into, like blood. A gory lot us celts. Sundog.

Thats awesome Sundog! I love to hear everything about trees, and that is very interesting. I love that the children leave their wishes on the trees. I think its a crime to cut any tree!! lol. Also the Alder was sacred to the god 'Bran' who carried a branch of it with him during the 'Battle of the Trees' saga, an old Celtic legend. A Taliesin riddle once asked the question: “Why is the Alder purple?”, the answer is because Bran wore purple into battle.
