I sometimes do when I have a cold. I haven't made my own stuff yet though, it's little bottles I buy. It's great when you have your nose stuffed.

This is off subject, but I just read recently a little exercise that stops a stuffy nose quickly. Anyways, this doctor say that when your nose gets stuffy it's a sign of hyperventalation. It makes sense, when we get a cold or allergic reaction we breath with our mouths more, which this guys say you should never do. Also this rang true to me because when ever I try to do deep breaths in meditations I always end up with a stuff nose. The exercise is to breath with the nose in and out normal, but diaphram breathing and on the exhale, hold the exhale without breathing in for as long as it is comfortable with making you cough or gasping for air, and then breath in slowly with the nose and you stuffy nose will be cleared or keep breathing that way until it does clear and then try not to breath through your mouth. I tried it and it does work. This was a website for people with asthma, a way to treat asthma without drugs. If your interesting in learning more here is the site. www.buteyko.com/index.html#links

I use aromatherapy for when I feel down. It helps me feel a little better and reminds me of the wonders and beauty in life. I haven't made my own recipes yet either. I get either joss sticks or the oils.

Hehe! Sxy, isn't that the biblical anointing oil that puts you into an altered state of consciousness. But the calamus is actually suppose to be cannabis. Yeah, I think so.

I just wish these oils were cheaper lol..does anyone know where to get cheaper ones..but the bad thing about buying the lesser value ones are that they are not as powerful/potent..hmm..I wish I could make my own, I did try with calendula..o man what a disaster!!lol never again.

Be sure when buying oils that they are 'essential' oils. To make your own oil(s) is usually not worth the bother.
Very good things for the home, other than aromatherapy, are salt lamps, and beeswax candles. They produce negative ions that remove toxins from the air, among many other things. Sweetgrass, sage, beeswax, saltlamps, patchouli and lavender, are my some of my favorites, though I do love amber and myrrh as well. I guess I could go on and on and on. HEY!! I love smelly stuff!
Scott Cunningham has a book on aromatherapy as well, if anyone is interested in the magic behind aromatherapy. Personally, I do not use it, I use what I think is best.

I love aromatherapy! But I have only been using the four oils that I currently have. I need to get some more....besides I am running out of what I have now. I mix tea tree oil with witch hazel for a multi-purpose use. I use it as an astringent, I use it on cuts (my kids love the thing Momma makes because it doesn't sting), and anything else I want to use it for externally. I will use the tea tree oil straight if it is a bad infection/cut. I use lavender and camomile on a handkerchief in my pillow for when I sleep. I use rosemary when I need to wake myself up a little bit or have a headache.

cool andin, one time I took a bath with orange oil..and I put too much in and it actually burned me, my skin was scorned by it, so I learned my lesson about oils and how powerful they can be.

Yeah...definately be careful how much of certain oils you use...lol. I haven't had any accidents, but I have pretty safe oils right now. I am trying to learn more about them before I buy any that I have to be more careful with. Luckily, the ones I have now can be used directly on the skin with out problems (as long as you're not allergic to them...that would be bad...lol). My mom actually got them for me and I think these were perfect for starting out.

isn't lavender one of the oils you don't have to dilute? I think I will get some if so, because it has lots of healing properties, plus it smells good..

I have used all of the oils I own undiluted since these ones are safe oils. Lavender, rosemary, chamomile, and tea tree oils have never given me a problem undiluted. Of course, I would try just a little bit overnight in a small spot before you use a lot on your skin. Would hate that you are allergic to one of them and didn't know it!

Here is a site that has a free aromatherapy daily tips e-mail that I sign up for. They have a lot of other information on the site too and also sell the Certified Organic and Organic essential oils. www.aromathyme.com/I haven't ordered from them yet, but I may be soon since I am running out of some of my oils and need some other ones too.

I have found a few sites to get essential oils and accessories from... www.aromaland.com/www.plantlife.net/www.frontiercoop.com/index.htmlThey all have decent prices too. I buy tea tree oil in 1oz. bottles and $7.10/bottle at plantlife is hard to pass up. Basically for the oils I use most I prefer plantlife and for other things I use the other two. Aromaland has more of a variety for the same type oil.
