Just wanted to set up my log before I get started. Not sure whether I will pick a card at a specific time of day or whenever I have the time during the day.

Time alone? When would that be...lol...I don't think I have any of that. Hehehehe...I think I'll just do it whenever the time seems right then.

Asked "What should I follow at this time?" and drew a card (Rider-Waite):
VII of Wands
I don't know what to say except that he looks angry and combative. To take a stance on what I believe. To not lose my temper about what others say, but also to not back down from them either.
Either that or to plant roots. The wands are all sticking out of the ground like he is digging in. To create something from nothing.

okay great, well thats a start, not a bad card..do you "feel" anything else from the card, if you have a feeling right away stick with it..even if its not so positive lol.. and I think you are very close to this cards meaning..maybe ponder on it a bit see if anything else comes to you, or if you want ask a clarify question or try the same question and draw again..it should give more insight into what you should follow at this time..

That is what had come to me as I was looking at the card. I'm going to look at it again and see if I get anything else from it. I am hoping that as I go on with this, I will start to feel some sort of connection with the deck. Unfortunately, it is hard for me to feel anything intuitively with these cards...I just don't connect with them well so most of what I did was my impressions of the picture. I think maybe I need to scoot over to Llewellyn, look at the sample cards and see if any look promising. Then buy myself a Christmas present...lol!

lol yeah..hehe I understand, like I said I have many decks and I use only a few of them lol..and yes sometimes it takes a bit to build a connection with the cards, maybe it will start coming to you more and more as you work with them..I think it is natural not to connect right away..

Cool. It's amazing how the human mind interpretes things.

I looked at the card again and stared at it for a little bit to see if I got anything else. All I ended up with was seeing strange (at least to me) characteristics "built-in" to the picture. Like doesn't the end of his wand sort of look like a bone (the femur maybe). And why is he wearing a shoe on one foot and a boot on the other. Then he appears to be standing on a cliff with little puddles of water seeping into the earth. Are the wands really in the ground or are they "floating" off the edge of the cliff. See I am such a visual person and other than the visual I'm just not getting anything else off this card. I think I'll see what I draw tomorrow. Hopefully that will be better for me.

Ok I don't want you all to think I'm weird or whatever...but I'm going to tell you how I "connected" to my cards more.
First of all I was drawn to this deck I'm using now. When I got them I went through each one and held it and looked at the picture. I cleansed it with white sage and slept with the whole deck under my pillow for several nights. I also meditated with a few cards and the deck in general. That's the beauty of this deck...it's made to work with dreams and meditation.
I read somewhere that the more you use and handle and are with your deck the stronger the connections is. It also suggested to sleep with the deck under your pillow for a while. Since I don't leave home much (aside from running errands) I'm with the deck a lot. I hopw this information helps you build a connection. If you don't feel connected after trying this then I would suggest you look through several decks until one "pops" out at you. Sometimes it's helpful to go to a store and actually handle the deck (while it's in the box of course) to feel the vibe it gives. Like I said before I spent months looking for the right deck. You will know when you have found the one for you.

I agree with anise, it is good to handle the deck often as possible and to sleep with it or have it near you..but if the cards do nothing for you after a while I would search for a deck that speaks to you.. I choose my decks pretty much the same way anise has.. I think I may pull out my waite deck and look at this card myself..Ill let you know what I get from it.

Thank you, Anise! Those are great suggestions. I think I'll have to try them on a deck other than this one though...my intuition is usually pretty good and this one just doesn't feel right to me. I am getting that feeling more and more as I started looking at other decks on the internet. These just don't have the "story" pictures in vibrant colors that I crave. I think once I find the perfect deck (or decks...lol) for me then I'm never going to let them out of my sight (or into my boy's hands). With the Rider Waite, I don't care if they touch them so much...they just mean that little to me.

lol, yeah I feel the same about the rider deck, its actually my deck I use on others most, since I don't car for it that much..I just don't want others to mess my nice cards up..not that they would but Im funny that way I guess..lol but is your deck old or newer andin?? my deck is old so the images are faded and look crappy, my friend got the same deck of rider and the newness of it makes it not so bad.

My deck is probably about 6-8 months old. I tried using it for about 2 months and then put them away for a while. Then I took them out to spread them on the floor so my boys could look at them. Then I used two of the cards to write a story (it is in a contest now so I cannot print it, but if I'm not a finalist then I'll put it in the forum...I think it's neat even if they don't). And then I put them away again until you put this tarot study up. They just don't have much to say to me...I think I will buy a new deck in a couple of weeks, but until then I'll just do my best with these. Sorry to keep on continuing with this...in addition to be a perfectionist, I'm also a complainer...lol! What a combination!

"What should I follow at this time?"
V of Swords
I see defeat, pleasure out of others misery, power over others.
I'm not really sure what this has to do with me right now. Unless it is more of a warning to watch what I do and say so I will not be the cause of others misery. It could also be letting me know to watch out for others wanting to do the same to me.

good meanings there andin..yes that card can be quite the negative, however it is usually an indication of fighting,struggles..but yes it could be a warning as well.. if that is what you feel go with it.. It is also a card of taking advantage of others...a useless situation.. for some reason you are drawing negative cards , and this is not what you should follow lol..I would try another card and ask the same question or pull out the 5 of swords and ask to clarify it by drawing another card.
