I did a simple daily reading to see how it pans out during the day... Spread: Daily Deck: SC ----3---- 1---5---2 ----4---- 1. Work - days accomplishments 2. Home - people/activities pertaining to home life 3. Unexpected - Surprises 4. Your Role - your mood/actions/reactions to people/events during the day 5. Outcome - Lesson(s) learned or spritual revelations. My Reading: 1. 9 swords (suffering) Pain, Loss, Transmutation, abandonment 2. A swords (Intellect) Power, Strength, Knowledge, Energy 3. 3 swords (Discord) Rock bottom, End of the storm 4. 2 wands (Courage) Risks, Willpower, Dedication, Hardwork 5. Q Discs (Expression) Confidence, Assertiveness, Independance I'm not quite sure about this reading yet. Of course the day isn't completely over yet. However I did work alone today and got quite a bit done. When my husband got home from work I felt exhausted though. He normally gives me strength and energy but I was working so hard before he got back that my body needed a rest. After I rested for a bit (watching t.v with him) I felt better though and picked up where I left off. Rock bottom as an unexpected is a little off though. But like I said the day isn't over yet. However so far I am feeling confident and a little independant.

great anise so did you use your new deck for the above reading? do you feel the deck is ready for readings? I mean sometimes the accuracy of them are way off due to them being so new..good spread though..I may try that one

Yeah I know what you mean by new decks. I had such a strong feeling from this deck from the moment I saw it. I have been looking online through the cards on Llewellyn's site and studying them from a distance for a while. I got the cards and looked through them here at home and instantly got the notion to try it out. I also have the gilded tarot deck (I got them both at the same time) but I'm not as drawn to that one. I'll have to work more with it and get acquainted with it more. I had a draw to that one as well but not as strong.
As far as how the day went in regards to the reading...I think for the most part it was very close to the reading. I'll have to go back and look at the 3 of swords again. That one is throwing me off for some reason. Of course I always live by expect the unexpected rule.

as you work with the cards, the more you will see, however it took me years to figure out the exact meaning of the cards, because they always change depending on our lives at that time..does that make sense..the 3 of swords can mean many things..however usually it means hurt feelings at the least , broken heart at the most..it is a dissapointing card..but we could be bringing this card on ourselves by not following our true feelings ya know..it is only a minor card, which means it is a daily meaning, it will change soon..the 3 of swords and the effect of it will not last long..unless you keep drawing it everyday!!lol

Yeah I know what you mean. Here is yesterdays spread I did... Daily Spread Deck: SC 1-Work Related: 4 wands (Development) Bright Sunny Peaceful Stability Creativity Energy 2-Home Related: 8 Cups (Abandonment) Movement Emotions Spirituality Higher sense of being 3-Unexpected: 5 Swords (Defeat) Instability Loss Mentality Limitations 4-My Role: 4 Swords (Rest) Clear skies Stability Peace Solitude 5-Outcome: 6 Swords (Solace) Rebirth Emotions Reflection Solitude I see this reading as developing creative energy and abandoning cloudy emotions or thoughts. Accepting that I may have stepped over my limitations. I need to stop and take a look at what I have set out achieve and prioritize my thoughts in order to get things done. Well yesterday I did just that. Reflection was the theme for yesterday's events. I did a lot of meditation off and on and got to work on the things that more important at this time. I did learn that I get ahead of myself at times. I just want to do so much for other people that I sometimes forget about myself. So yesterday was me time.

Very good, Anise! It sounds like you and I are alike in some ways. Always taking care of others and never taking time for ourselves. I think it is great that you took time for yourself. Did you do this tarot reading to help you figure out that you needed to do that? Or did you figure that out after doing this tarot reading? Kind of like the chicken or the egg type of thing...which came first...just sort of curious.
I think that any reading that makes you think and betters yourself in some way is a good reading...even if the outcome isn't what you expected.

Oh...I almost forgot to ask. Was this a specific spread? Did you just lay them out in a row or was there a pattern? Also, is this the only use for this particular spread? Or can you do it for reasons other than just reflection? Thanks.

I did the reading first and thought it made a lot of sense. During the holidays is always busy for everyone and taking time for yourself is important. I have to be honest that time gave me more energy to do the things I need to do. So today I have been working with finishing tasks I started with a clear head.

I'm glad to hear that taking time for yourself has helped you with the energy needed to finish your tasks. I hope it made it less stressful for you as well.

Hehe didn't catch your question before...The spread was the same one I did above this one. And it's just a basic spread. I kept in mind that the purpose of this spread is to guide me through the days course.

good reading anise..good job! I think your doing well with reading for yourself..Im surprised you guys are all doing awesome, usualy its easier to learn the cards first than do spreads, but I think doing them both helps build a stronger connection with the cards and making it easier to read spreads and learn them at the begining.

Thanks. I guess once you find a deck that speaks to you it's not all that difficult to read them. And having an open mind helps a lot too.

I did two readings - one with each deck (Sacred Circle and Gilded Tarot).
Spread: One Card Deck: Sacred Circle Q: What should I follow at this time? C: The Sun What I see in this card: Warmth, Energy, Clear sky, Light, Radiance, Illumination, Nurturing life. My Interpretation: Things are about to clear or brighten up and I will be able to see things clearer and in a brighter more positive light.
Spread: One Card Deck: Gilded Tarot Q: What should I follow at this time? C: 3 Wands What I see in this card: Distance, Looking out, Watching, Calm, Pride. My Interpretation: Calmness settles as I watch the "ship" sail by. I feel a bit of serenity and peace with a hint of pride as I stand here watching the calmness of the majestic ship sail past. My Thoughts on Both cards: You know the number 3 has been a mojor theme lately. I dream in 3's, I see things in 3's and 3's just tend to stick out and grab my attention. Aside from that I think these cards go well together. With both of them I was left with a feeling of warmth and inner peace.

I've been getting the feeling that you have been a lot happier lately and that the cards are reflecting that. Maybe happier isn't the right word...what I meant is calmed...peaceful...relaxed. It seems that you've learned to accept the way things are and that has calmed you. Like you've told yourself to just ride it out and things will be better...why worry about it when you know it will be over soon. You've been pulling some really positive cards and it seems you've worked out some issues I think as well.

anise , I agree with andin as well..the sun is a great card, and its a happy card!yay! and of course with the three of wands combined its basicly saying things are going get better for you..you are waiting for your fruit to harvest and the three tells the time is drawing near for you to reap the rewards.. things are coming or will be coming together for you soon..

Awww thanks guys. I agree with both of you. I have felt a lot calmer and more relaxed lately. There have been several situations where I would normally get upset and stressed out over, but I didn't get that way. It's a strange feeling really but I'm not complaining. I'm trying to be more open and accepting now. It seems to be working well for me. You see I have a goal to overcome depression and eventually work myself off the meds. I'm using a combination of meditation exercises and color and aromatherapy to help. I've also been using a few of those guided hypnosis "tapes" that were posted here a while back. I'm a little surprised at how much they've helped.

I'm trying to work with all my cards and use which ever deck "calls" to me at the time I am ready to do a reading. So I may be interchanging decks often based on the "calling" I get. Spread: Daily 5 card Deck: Gilded Tarot 1-Work: King Pentacles Unaware, Relaxed, Carefree, Free of responsiblities 2-Home: King Wands Focused, Contemplative, Entralled, Engrossed in the flame 3-Unexpected: 10 Wands Burdens, Determination, Ending of a cycle (with the rising of the sun) 4-Role: 7 Wands Defense, Seriousnes, Standing up to whatever it is that is about to come, Strong willed, Confident. 5-Outcome: 3 Swords Piercing, Heartbroke, Cloudy, Unclear. I'm not worried about finacial matters at this time. I'm focused on my flame (what keeps me warm and secure). I'm determined to rid myself of the burdens I carry. I'm confident with where I stand right now. I'm not seeing a clear picture which may lead to a broken heart. A lot of this is pretty accurate for today's thoughts and feelings. I see the King of Pentacles as my finacial situation the flame in the King of Wands represents my husband. The 10 wands represents my mental outlook on current situations and 7 wands tells how I go about dealing with issues currently. The 3 of Swords gives me the impression that I'm not seeing something clearly. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a heartbreak?

I did the daily spread a little differently this time in recognition of the new year. Spread: 5 card daily Deck: GT Question: What should I focus on for the coming year relating to work, home, and that which is unexpected? Work: Magician discipline, control, using innate and learned skills Home: 9 Wands tired, defeat, retreat, regrouping to learn from mistakes Unexpected: 7 Wands defense, standing up for what you believe in, making sure those beliefs are sound, facing questions about where you stand Role: 9 Swords alone, wisdom, troubled, working out problems alone but knowing help is near if needed or showing that we are not completely alone and asking for help is ok. Outcome: Temperance balance, harmony, balancing beliefs with actions, sense of blending. Interpretation of all cards: I need to focus of work issues tapping into that which I know and love. I will need to do this alone but should also be aware that help is not far away and should not be afraid to rely on that help if needed. My beliefs and ideas may be questioned by others but that will only lead to me strengthening those beliefs or correcting what is not stable. Home matters will smooth themselves out as everything else becomes balanced and I don't need to focus or worry about that too much. Relating reading to real life: I have a pretty secure home life. What I have been debating internally is what to do about income. I have had many ideas and thoughts and tried a few but they always fell through. I have tried pyrography which I love but I am left with not being able to make this a primary source of income based on the pain it causes my hand, wrist and arm. I have tried web design but quickly learned that this is a cause of headaches. Even though I love making websites I can't do this all the time. The only other thing I have found that I have a true love in is natural healing and metaphysical practices. I do love helping others even though it drains me occasionally. I started all three ideas about the same time and this is the only one that doesn't cause physical pain and I have not slowed down studying the metaphysical one bit. I have slowed down in doing pyrography and web design though. Now the question is how can I "blend" my beliefs with work. I am open to any ideas in regards to this question. Right now I must get views and opinions from all sides so that I can make a sound choice. Maybe this is my true calling but my rational mind wants answers before taking this to the next level.
