I just got these things called egg beaters, which I think are frozen egg whites. It said they're 99% real eggs (4 in a carton). I started a weightlifting program and diet a couple weeks ago so I just chugged 2 cartons, and I'm gonna chug 2 more later. Can you still get salmonella poisoning from that or anything?

Sounds gross!!! But they are supposed to be good for weight lifting! I don't know about the food poisoning thing. I have a cafe and I'm really careful with eggs but I know that loads of people who do weight lifting do it so I don't think that it would be a major problem. Plus, when I was a kid I always used to eat the cake mixture from the bowl whenever my mam made a cake and that's got raw egg in it and it never made me ill. Good luck with the weights! Love Hol

lol, Blake those are nasty, haha, as long as you get the frozen ones youll be fine, I know they have them in the dairy departmants too, where their just refrigerated, I wouldn't trust those, but the frozen ones are okay... good luck ..

Yeah I had the frozen ones... that didn't work out too well though. I don't recommend that lol
Maybe I just drank too many (16 in a couple hours). I guess maybe I'll try it again but more in moderation. Or maybe I'll just get protein powder.

Hi Blake, A few years ago I used to drink 4 fresh egg whites, often with milk as they are a little hard to keep down. I know others who mixed them with Complan and other energy drinks but I preferred to take them separately. Some even mixed them with grapefruit juice, ephedrine and caffeine (you have to see it to believe it) which used to be the trendy thing in the gyms until ephedrine was made illegal in this country. I never got ill once from egg whites, neither do I know anyone else who did. Salmonella is very very rare and more common to chicken meat than eggs, but it is a real concern. Have you ever had it, it hurts bad! www.ochef.com/336.htmHave you considered using high protein powder instead? Sanatogen make a good one, you just mix it with water and it takes the consistency of egg white so you will love it Regards Gav

Yeah those things are really hard to keep down I have a protein powder, but I heard somewhere that you can't digest all the protein in those things because the amino acids are disconnected from the meat, or protein? The one I'm drinking is whey so maybe that wouldn't apply anyway. I think I just heard that from someone, I don't know how accurate that is. I used to be into weightlifting but I failed for like 3 years straight, and then quit because I didn't want to resort to steroids. Now I'm training in a more non-steroid-user-friendly way and I'm gaining muscle fast. I can see a big difference from 4 weeks ago. I can't believe I failed for so long... I thought it wasn't possible for me to gain mass, but now I see I was definitly wrong... or actually maybe I wasn't, I did have an underactive thyroid gland and I didn't know it. I think I just never found the right way to do it. Here's the way I'm doin' it: www.musclenow.com I'm gonna have one of those picture testimonials up there before long:)
