Thought this would be a good definition page for everyone to read!
Psychometry - The ability to read an object from touching it. Joseph Rodes Bachanan did some studies with his medicine students and had great success. He decided that our nerves give off an electric field (aura) which conveys a symbolic history of the objects to our mind. William Denton, a geologist, later tested different geological samples wrapped in paper. He came to the conclusion that certain objects contain these energies better then others. This info is in the form of vibrations, caused by traumatic events, or the events of the owner, and are read by our psychic right side of the brain. This can be used to read the past and even the future of these objects.
Precognition- This comes as 'flashes' of knowing, or in prophetic dreams. Place the question in your mind and await the answer. This can take time, so relax and let the conscious mind become occupied, so that the subcooncsious mind can pop out.
Clairaudience- To hear inwardy; religion calls this the voice of the spirit. This can mean hearing a disembodied voice with the physical ears or understanding an astral voice with your inner ears.
Clairovoyance- Clear-seeing. Celts call this second sight. This is the ability to see spirits and entities. It also gives the astral traveller the ability to see clearly while 'out and about'. Usually this operates in the inner mind, like a vision. For most this is a flash of movement or something in your perpheral vision that is gone when you look at it.
Telepathy- To send a thought to another, and vise versa. Very connected or close people use this ability everyday. Some animals are quite good at this as well. When you look at your pet see if they are sending you something...'I'm hungry' as the form as an image, like an empty bowl.
Telekinesis- To move things with your energies. A state of mind over matter. Dr. J. B. Rhine of Duke University, conducted experiments on this. People were found to be able to move pencils, compass needles, and calculators, and cause floating corks to change direction. Partnership with energy.
Dowsing- Finding something underground; water pipes, tanks, is an interesting occupation. Some use pendulums, or willow wands, or bent coat hangers as well. During the vietnam war underground bunkers were uncovered by using bent metal rods.
Intuition- Emotionaly based and connected to the solar plexus as a 'gut feeling'. Instant knowing that you should or shouldn't have done something. The most developed of our psychic talents.
Crystal Gazing- Seeing into the future or the past can be done physically or astrally. Hold an image of a person, or event you wish to see. Crystal gazing or scrying is an ancient magickal practice. Black stones in containers of water were used by the kahunas of Hawaii. Other used objects include; goblets of water, pools of ink, blank white walls, mirrors, or shiny reflective objects set on black cloth.
Tarot Cards or Runes- Almost anyone can memorize what the cards mean, but not everyone can put the psychic touches that need to be implemented in them. Appears to be a combination of psychometry, precognition, intuition, and clarivoyance.
