I am new to this forum and so hello all! And thanks again to Lilac for the invite. I have been doing much meditation as of late. I have been using many herbs and gems to try and attain some oneness. I have recently had a dream where i was walking through a garden and a teacher was teaching me things that I can barely remember. In this dream i felt totally comfortable, and at total ease. In it he told me the scientific name of a bright blue Dragonfly or damselfly 'Enallagma civile' of Anis Optera, i believe. He asked me if i knew of it and I said no, and he held out his hand and in it appeared out of nowhere the dragonfly. This dream has inspired my desires to bring on more astral travel experiances, teachings and healings. I was wondering if anyone knew what this dragonfly could possibly symbolize or anything that could help me further this experiance. Thank-you kindly.

hello there! great to have you here! ya know this dream seems very enchanting, and its one of those dreams that make you think about your life and your path and one that inspires you to reach more into yourself for answers..perhaps this dream is a symbol of learning/teaching that is going on in your life right now..or perhaps soon you will meet a teacher..or become a teacher to someone else..but most of all this dream to me is saying that you are in tune with your innerself and now is the time to move forward in your personal growth, in whatever area that may be for you as far as inner enlightenment/inner awareness.. I wanted to ask you how long youve had obe's? and Im not sure about the dragonfly..what does it represent to you..perhaps like the butterfly it represents new life/newness and freedom.. I look forward to hearing about your experiences..and if you want you can create your own dream journal..if you keep track of them.. thanks again for joining us!! Lilac

Thats so cool because the first words that came to my mind when I thought of what the dragonfly means to me were, water, life, energy, and freedom! I've had countless dreams, since early childhood, that i was flying over the trees at my parents house where i grew up. I would jump while using my arms, and i would "float" up into the air, and gradually come down with gravity. I would think 'this IS real', and 'I can do this anytime', and 'I never want to wake'. Then as always i would lose control and go soaring with my excitement straight into the sky! That was the most recurring one, although I have had a few others as well.

cool!! yeah thats sounds awesome..I love to fly, and flying is a huge symbol of freedom..even freedom from the physical world and attachments which means higher awareness.. interesting...about the dragonfly.. so wow youve been having obe's /ld's since a kid..thats great! do you ever have to battle in your adventures or do you have more positive experiences? the reason I ask is because many times I have to confront something before I can move forward, and most of the time I end up in a battle and get tired of it and want to return to my body..and wake up lol..but Ive had my share of beautiful/inspirtational experiences as well, it just seems that for me my negative side seems to show its ugly head first..

I have had battles too unfortunatly. I have often relived past fights with people, that turn into slow-motion. Where I am trying desperately to defend myself, but I am almost stuck and cannot move. Often I try to run, and just before I am caught, I end up kicking or punching the person laying asleep next to me! lol. It really sucks bad! I wonder what it is I am really trying to run from...?

how often do you run in your dreams??? I think most of the time we run from change..as change greets us we run because we know we must give something up in order to bring about nessecary changes in our lives..this of course was the meaning of my running dreams, for you it could be differant.. also it depends on what else is going on in the dream..just prior to your running..

Well i used to run often, and I was always getting chased by something, or someone who wanted to hurt me. In my past I ran from everything, as I had a very colourful childhood and teenhood, you might say. I haven't had these negative dreams in some time, as I have made huge changes in my life!

thats good to hear, for me Im still battling lol, and probably always will be, but I think for me it is one of my dream themes in order to be shown that I am constantly struggleing in life and that I have what it takes to come out on top ya know, and in obe's/lucid dreams, I battle my way to higher awareness, which is good for me.it builds confidence and shows again that I have inner strength..so even negatives can be positives..ya know.

I believe the dragonfly is a symbol of freedom. Also rebirth because of the stages it needs to go thru to become an adult.

In my Earthway book by Mary Summer Rain she states Dragonflies are a strong positive spiritual aspect and can be instrumental in eliminating the negative ones.

Now this is quoted by a book because i cannot find the words to express the meaning to dragonfly any better. It is from the book Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams and David Carson Text copyright 1998-1999, Dragonfly... Breaks illusions, Brings visions of power, No need to prove it, Now is the hour! Know it Beleive it, Great spirit intercedes, feeding you blessing you, Filling all of your needs. I know this post is from last year, So just in case anyone else dreams of Dragonfly, This is North American belief translated into a poem. There is more to Dragonfly But I am unable to quote the entire Page breaching copyright laws etc... I will try to find my own words to explain But I think this little Poems captures the essence of dragonfly quite well.

What a beautiful poem! I started seeing dragonflies when I was feeling vulnerable. They are pretty with all the different colors and always made me smile. I also like to watch them hunt. They have powerful jaws that they use to catch other insects. They reminded me that I'm beautiful and strong, when I was feeling sad. They spend first part of their life in water, pretty powerless (water symbolizes emotion), and then emerge as pretty creatures with wings (air symbolizing intellect and intuition for me).
