I have a recurring dream in which I cannot find my car in a parking lot. I go through the entire lot, and it is not there. I KNOW I parked it there! I am terrified every time I wake up. I feel empty and scared. Ok, here is some background about me:
I crave love. I want everyone to love me. (When I was in high school, I was one of the nerdy, awkward girls who was constantly made fun of and jeered at.) Someone suggested that the dream means that I am looking for the love that I know is there but can't find it.
What do you think?
I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. I've just joined and am learning my way around.
Thanks for any help! Bobbie

hi there bobbie, well first off you should ask yourself what is going on in your life at the times of these dreams...is there anything that perhaps provokes them? are there any other cars in the lot??? I would take notes of your life and your dreams, and start putting together connections, some how something is making you feel lost, or that your path"lot" in life is lost...

I agree with Ronni and think you should take note of your waking life experiences.
To help you determine and to make connections:
Car Common symbol of the self, the “the direction we are headed in our lives.” A more immediate symbol than planes and trains and ships (which indicate larger concerns and transitions) due to its ubiquity in everyday living.
Lost Common metaphor for feelings of doubt about one’s direction in waking life. Notice the location of the dream. If you are lost in an office or business environment, uncertainty about your career path is indicated. Being lost in a travel context suggests a period of transition, and uncertainty about arriving successfully at your next destination. Being lost in a romantic context (can’t find your partner) signals difficulties communicating. Common theme in the wake of separations, divorces, and death of a spouse.
Parking Lot To dream that you are in parking lot, suggests that you need to slow down and take some time to relax from your daily activities.
So now you have to ask yourself what it is in your waking state that connects these suggestions to your experiences...
Are you feeling lost in some way? Spiritually? Romantically? Professionally?
It seems that the car and the feeling of having lost something both points toward your waking life direction. Perhaps you need to slow down (as the parking lot suggests) and take time to find out where you are going in life. Only you can know the real reason behind this recurring dream. With some thought you will figure it out I'm sure.

wow! I have not even been here in so long, for I stay busy. I teach school and give 125% every day, so I am often exhausted at the end of the day. I make sure to exercise for an hour every day as well. I LOVE the ideas that you have given me. I DO feel lost a lot of the time, as if I do not know where I am going. I am not in a REAL romantic relationship, and I wonder a lot about it.

Glad to see you again. Yeah if you wonder about a romantic relationship or yearn for something more concrete then that can give a sense of feeling lost. It seems though that your life is very involved. You should take a few minutes out of each day and reflect on your day. You can do this at night before you go to sleep (while laying in bed). You're always on the go and don't really have time to organize your daily activities...when we dream that is our minds way of cataloging and filing the days events. Some days are busier than others so some nights a are filled with more intense dreams.
Since that is your case then I wouldn't worry too much about your recurring dream. Just try to take a little bit of time out the day for yourself to reflect. This could be as little a 5 minutes.
