Your Dominant Thinking Style: Visioning
You are very insightful and tend to make decisions based on your insights. You focus on how things should be - even if you haven't worked out the details.
An idealist, thinking of the future helps you guide your path. You tend to give others long-term direction and momentum. Your Secondary Thinking Style: Modifying
Super logical and rational, you consider every fact available to you. You don't make rash decisions and are rarely moved by emotion.
You prefer what's known and proven - to the new and untested. You tend to ground those around you and add stability.

I'm not sure about ghosts. I've heard tales from reliable sources, including my sister, but don't have anything spectacular to report myself.

I think I may have misquoted Gore on that point as well. Thanks for clearing that up!

Interesting.
In the film An Inconvenient Truth, host and narrarator Al Gore talks about how green house gasses get trapped in the ozone, which causes the earth to heat up. This makes the ice caps melt. The more water mass the earth has, the more flooding and the more cold air. (Land makes the earth warmer, the more land, the warmer the earth). So, when the ice caps melt, which is what they are doing now, then we'll be heading into an ice age. Right now we are going through the global warming phase.
The message in the film was that our industrial age has caused more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If we can dramatically slow this process or stop it, we can slow down the rate of global warming.

what osiris said. I don't believe in fate.
Also, sometimes death occurs because of shit-ass luck. I lost a good friend to cancer recently. I can't imagine god saying, "OK, you did what you needed to do, so it's time." She had plans to do things still when she retired (she was 59). Everyone she knew was touched by her in a positive way. She was non-judgemental, consciencious, very spiritual, and lived simply. She was also a great mother to two daughters.
About the time of her death, a school teacher at the highschool where I work, was on his way home from a tennis match. It was raining hard and the driver of the car going the other way skidded. He was killed instantly. He was a great teacher and loved by all his students. I don't see how god would say , "Ok, enough of that love and respect and education, I got other plans for you."
The only fate we all share is death is inevitable. Sometimes the thougth wakes me up in a cold sweat at night. I think the biggest question, for me at least, is What happens after death? Is there an afterlife?

May 22, 2006 The Mirroring World We Are Like Nature As you walk through the world, find your own metaphors for connectedness in nature. Flesh them out fully and follow them as they lead you through the mystery and intelligence of life. Taken from DailyOM Speaking of metaphors, I like the expression "breath of life." All of us, and that includes the non-human creatures, need the air to breathe. And in that air, is what I call the "universal unconscious." Borrowed from Carl Jung, it is that invisible thread that connects us all to the wonder workings of the universe. Some call it god, others a "higher power." Whatever you call it, it brings with it that inborn instinct. It shows the birds how to fly and catch food, it shows the trees how and when to take in carbon dioxide and form green leaves, and shed them for warmth in the winter. It's just a knowing. It's within us ALL!

Yes, the ball is rolling. Scientists are now confirming that we are in a global warming period. The polar ice caps are melting at an alarming fast rate.
Scary for all of us living north of the equator!

Brilliant!
Off topic a bit, but it's a great idea to substitute one sense for one that isn't functioning. Another example: Ray Charles once said he remembered many colors from his childhood before he lost his sight, but "shartruse (sic) really blows my mind."
A good thing to do would have been to give him a lime and let him feel it's texture and let him smell and taste it.

I don't believe within our lifetime we will see an end to the world or for many generations to come. It would certainly take a great catastrophe to bring civilation to a halt. Agreed. I think the end will come via an astroid or meteorite. Hopefully by then, the human race will have advanced to the point of populating Mars or some distant planet. Or, better still, we will develop the technology to destroy the astroid before it hits. I don't believe in the biblical ending of the world---unless you think the ending by fire predicted in Revelations was referring to an astroid.

Quote; Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath) - War Pigs - generals gathered in their masses, just like witches at black masses, evil minds that plot destruction, scorceror of death construction, in the fields the bodies burning, as the war machine keeps turning, death and hatred to mankind, poisoning their brain washed minds. Politicians hide themselves away, they only started the war, why should they go out to fight, they leave that all to the poor, time will tell on their power minds, making war just for fun, treating people like pawns in chess, wait till their judgment day comes. now the darkness wheel stops turning, ashes where the bodies burning, no more war pigs have the power, and of god has struck the hour, day of judgment day is god calling, on their knees war pigs crawling, begging mercies for their sins, Satan laughing, spreads his wings. I hope all these lyrics are correct ! War is only good for the under taker. I wouldn't call myself an Osbourne fan, but I like that song! Also, "war is only good for the undertaker" is part of the lyrics to "War" by Edward Starr. I love that one! It's easy to tell too. Look at my signiture!

Without the experience of war would we know the experience of peace? Does the experience of the greastest of wars not bring the greatest of peace? What is the reason of war? Surely to bring peace. And if there comes a time when we no longer war, I think it is because we see the reason for it, we never can forget war, and must cherish it. Yes we must cherish war, because without it we would have no peace. And if we have peace and forget all about war, we will forget to of peace, and will have to start all over again. I'm curious animal, have you read George Orwell's novel about a despotism utopia called Oceania? It's called 1984. If you havent' read it, I suggest you do. It will change your perspective on the "war is peace" slogan. And yes, it is just that; a slogan. Orwell had a few other slogans in his book too: Ignorance is Strength Freedom is Slavery

why not use it (earth) to its full potential....and unlock our destiny, for the ancient have left us keys to who we are, and have shown us better ways to manage this world then we are doing now. I think the human race is still evolving. Our species is still in the infantile phase. That amphibian part of our brain has evolved, but the higher brain functions in the cerebral cortex still needs a few more electric pathways. Scientists have said we only use between 10 to 20 percent of our brain. We won't be around to see it, but it would be interesting to see what we will accomplish as a species if we had the capacity to use 100%. We would either have a utopia type paradise, or arrmageddon.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what was going on overseas. I just noticed this thread, and yes I do have some opinions. I was against the Iraqi invasion from the beginning because I don't believe anything the neo-conservatives say. I didn't buy the argument of WMD and an eminent threat. The neo-conservative movement is all about global domination and control of the world's natural resouces (namely oil). The Bush administation and the archetects of the neo-conservative movement---including among them Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld---KNEW there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, so they knew it would be an easy target for invasion. It's a country with an abundance of oil, it's location is strategic in that it sits in the middle of the Middle East, and as Bush said, (Saddam) "tried to kill my dad." The WMD argument was used solely to sell the war to the public. Former Deputy Sec. of Defense Paul Wolfowitz admitted to as much in a Newsweek interview.
