Hey.
I don't know how many people here actually energy train, but for anyone who might, I have a pointer.
I lift weights often but I never did aerobics until recently, because I don't like them and I'm not sure I believe that it's actually good for you in the long run, but anyway, I've been running on a treadmill some (too much snow to run outside). If you run hard for about 20 minutes and THEN energy train it makes a big difference in how much energy you get flowing. N.E.W. actually works really well after running. I felt some sensations I never had before and stuff. In light of this I now find Robert Bruce slightly less annoying than I used to think he was. If you run first and then do NEW (or qi gong of course) you'll be doing well.
I have never read much in qi gong books about running for energy flow, in fact I hear that the chinese think we're fools for running, but I think if you do it before qi gong, even thought I haven't read about it, it makes sense that it would help from a qi gong point of view.
Qi flow in the chinese medicine point of view is directly linked to blood flow and they say that where your qi is, you blood is too. A decline in health is thought to be a result of poorer qi flow as well as a decrease in the ability for blood to carry nutrients to all parts of the body. The consistencies between circulation and qi flow are what made me try this in addition to qi training and it's made a really big differnce. You'll definitely notice.
Another reason it helps may be because qi flow is better when your pores are open. Running must heat your body up from the inside which would open your pores more and allow more energy exchange.
