I find the sweet song of a Tibetan Singing bowl amazing. It fills your house with energy, life, and heals the soul. It is important to buy a true hand made bowl from Tibet, and not a factory made imitation. I have one on lay-away at my spiritual shop, and they also have 'fakes'. They can be expensive, and can cost over 200. for a real one. The fakes show lines from the spinning lathe work. They are made from seven base metals: Gold = the sun, Silver = the moon, Mercury = Mercury, Copper = Venus, Iron = Mars, Tin = Jupiter, Lead = Saturn, these singing bowls are used by Tibetan monks for rituals, healing and meditation practices. In Tibetan tradition the powerful vibrations of the singing bowl respond to the sound of the universal creation and inner consciousness. I believe that the 7 different minerals could possibly produce the seven notes that are associated with our seven light centres, and that is why they are so effective in thier opening powers.
A stick is rubbed around the rim of the bowl, releasing the sound of several notes which gently rise to a single note of harmony until the bowl is singing to you. This singing bowl can be also used for space clearing in Feng Shui. Although we are still learning the powers from these bowls the secrets are now experimented in the areas of healing, meditation, as well as the purifying of negative impulses.

I wish everyone had one! When I first tried it, it was amazing. He also had some different sizes and I tried the smallest one too. The shop owner said that only certain women seem to be able to make it sing. And so I was like "reeaally, hmmmm". Of coarse I didn't want to beleive that, and so I made it sing away, at a very high pitch! I found you just have to be slow and gentle with that one. The sound is sooo soothing. I can't even describe it in words. Just great. I have to get at least one and add it to my meditation room!!!! I can't wait.

Thats cool Nanni, I always try to respect everyone's beliefs. Actually I think it is great that you want to keep animals free from our negative ties. I try to think that my own thoughts and feelings do not hurt them, but of course we can not have the same innocence that they have.

Thought some people would like to hear the sounds of some exquisite singing bowls. There are a collection of ancient and rare bowls here, ranging from $150 to well over $1000. home.ripway.com/2005-8/378095/Tibetan_Singing_Bolwls.zipoops I spelt the file wrong...Oh well. The sound is better in real life but it is still very sweet.

so how much are these bowls you guys?? do you know the prices?? I own two Tibetan Singing Bowls. One was from a friend and so I don't know how much it was. But the other one was around $90. I believe that that is around the low price for them. When I bought mine there were several that were $200-400 that I would have loved to get. I just recently received from a friend a set of Ting shaws which are capable of the same things as a singing bowl. And as sxy pointed out Frank Perry is a great resource on hearing them and understanding them. I'll add www.bodhisattva.com/tibetan.htmYou can click on Tibetan Singing Bowls to read about the types of Bowls and then after selecting a choice, hear what one sounds like. You can also look at and listen to other ritual items.
