Hi lilac. It doesn’t take too long to get fit. Depending on how much exercise you do a week. There just needs to be time for the muscles to re build and strengthen then there needs to be time to brake them down again and then to let them heal again. If you keep this routine this is how to build muscle. If your doing aerobics such as long jogs it's important to find a inner beat. Like your own jogging beat this is how to not give up. It's also important to learning to find how to inhale/ oxygen properly. To do this it is to create deep breaths that stretches the lungs giving more capacity to absorb oxygen. Taking deep breaths is not the only way. Making the correct breathing patterns to collect as much oxygen is vital in aerobical training.

I am recommending going for swims at your local pool. Do a couple of laps once a week and try to extend the amount that should stretch strengthen and relax stressed muscles. It's fun and something to do for leisure. If your swimming pool has a gym why not try having a go just for curiosity. If you are into yoga it is a performance enhancer. Giving more flexibility it can speed up any sport performance.

Oh yeah swimmin and running for me. I don't recommend push-ups for a girl, unless they're done girly style, I just don't find big arms attractive on a girl! Annie Shwartzenegger..lol But you wiegh like a buck twenty, thats pretty light indeed, so I wouldn't worry lol. Standing push-ups against a wall is good for toning too. But sit-ups fo sho, nothin sexier then a nice tight stomach. Just by laying down and kind of rocking back and forth is good for the abs too, it is easy to do, and tones you up nice. Running is so good for endurance, and toning. When you get tired of running just keep on running, and you pass the tired point and keep on goin'. I can't even stress how good and healthy running is. You know most animals can run so fast, we used to be so much faster and we lose all this by not needing to run. We just get slower and slower, and its like we don't even jog a few feet without getting tired or crampin up. lol. Eating healthy and water/juices are a must, I like to add tons of herbs when I cook too, it cleans the skin, and gives you fuel to be active. Plus I find they add colour to the skin. I love to swim but I can't do it anymore, at least not yet, I had a crappy tumor removed, and I have to wait till I heal. They went in through my ear, so I don't want infection. I liked going to the pool at night, hoping the fence, and swimmin' all alone or with someone...he he he. I like my river beside my house too, can't wait to swim again its been like two or three years since I could. I used to dive off 50-60 feet cliffs, what a rush! Oh baby I'm gonna call my doc, maybe I can now... Well anyway those are my 'beauty tips'. Oh yeah can't forget the best work out of all...

I need to lose heaps of weight now too. Im at about 200 now, i want to get to about 170 in 3 months, u think its doable? I do. I totally agree with the water bottle trick. I never used to drink water. At work i had to keep one on me to have a drink when i got thirsty cos the water founains were to cold. I drink about 3 litres a day id say, so u can see theres a BIG difference and its such an easy thing to do, to carry a water bottle.

It's definitely doable. I was at 200 myself last January and then I started running and going to the gym in late January. That took away the first 15 pounds. Then I tore several ligaments in my ankle playing basketball in late February and thought my health streak was over but then I decided to start eating much more healthier than I was and quit eating meat for 3 weeks except for a few times. I quit drinking soda as well. Though I wasn't exercising for months after the ankle injury I lost another 25 pounds by sometime in may purely from my diet. I was down to 160 by sometime in May. I was at 165 by sometime in April and that was less than three months after I begun being healthier. I think what you eat is more important in losing weight versus exercising. You can exercise all you want but if you're going out afterward and eating 3000 calories in greasy food (what I normally crave after working out for hours) then it's not doing much. If instead you only eat 2500 calories of healthy food a day and exercise a little you'll see the weight leave much faster. It can be done but determination is a must. After High School I was around 140 for years but after working at two restaurant jobs (one in the morning and then one at night sometimes) I noticed one day that I was much bigger and at one point I finally weighed in at 200 pounds (Christmas last year. What did it for me though to become determined wasn't wanting to lose weight but instead was because I had moved to a new town and was becoming really depressed so I started running then joined a gym to to make myself feel better and it did wonders and the weight just started to disappear. The first couple of weeks were very tough though. Good luck.

pity that u have bad luck getting fit. Sounds like im in the same boat. A couple of years ago i wanted to lose weight and a mte of mine knew of someone teaching hapkido in his Garage. Man i lost weight and quick, plus i ate well also. Unfortunately i broke my knee after 6 months. After bludging around for a few years i go back into it early this year going well for about 2 months then i got a hernia. Almost finished recovering from that so now its partytime!! Hey existance, can u go back to the gym if u want or is your ankle still holding u back?

As of late I haven't been well at all. My weight is still down because I dont' eat that much. Because I work nights (and at a really good restaurant) I normally don't eat until I get to work which means I'm normally up for anywhere between 3-6 hours before eating anything which I know is not good but I've lost my appetite during the morning to afternoon hours Then about 1am I realize I'm hungry and eat something quick and easy. When I was eating really healthy several months ago I would eat like 5-6 times a day but really small meals becuase this helps to keep your blood sugar levels balanced. I could really feel the energy from this but the way I'm eating now my blood sugar levels are all messed up. Plus I would juice lots of different types of fruits in the morning about 45 minutes before eating a bowl of cereal or oat meal (this helps your body absorb the nutrients much faster) Breakfast is the last thing on my mind nowadays. I'm actually thinking about fasting sometime in the next couple of months. I've been sort of waiting for the weather to get a bit cooler. My ankle is better now, but because I've torn all the ligaments in both ankles twice on each one now, I have to be really carefull of what I do. I really like basketball and that's my favorite thing to do for excercise but now I"m afraid to injure myself again. I used to be a hard core skater and then snow boarder but after so many injuries I'm done with extreme sports (oh but how do I miss them ) The last really bad injury was snow boarding a couple years ago. I really messed up my shoulder and it took forever to heal and still gives me problems. Funny thing is, is that I've torn ligaments, dislocated shoulders, Serious muscle strains(the snow boarding incident) fractured both wrists twice each and other injuries but never one broken bone. Crazy. The thing about going back to the gym is that it takes me to really want to start working out and then feeling how good it makes me feel to keep it up. So this injury basically took all the motivation I had and I haven't had it sense. I do ride my bike a lot now though and have done a lot of swimming (my other favorite excersise) this summer. Once again I've gone on more than I probably needed Talk to you later

Hi LalacSky! How are you doing with getting in shape? Well, I just wanted to say that I am getting back into healthier lifestyle as well. I've been through a lot of diet/exercise phrases and here are a few things I learned:
Don't push yourself too hard and enjoy what you are doing, otherwise you'll just want to put it off. It shouldn't be a chore. If you don't feel like doing anything hard, well, then just go for walk. As long as you do something every day. Get a yoga tape. It feels soo nice on your body and gives you energy to do other exercise as well. And yes, rollerblading is a good exercise, works those leg muscles. I love rollerblading!
As far as diet goes, I've tried different ones, and they all contradict each other. Eat natural and fresh. Definitely load up on those fruits and veggies. There are different ways to enjoy them. One easy way is to buy frozen veggies, mm..stirfry. Of course, fresh is better, but frozen is a shortcut. Refined sugar is an energy drainer. If you crave for sweets, why not try some new fruits? There are so many different ones, can never run out of a tasty snack. Food is also for the soul, so enjoy it.
Drinking water is good and I love the taste of spring water. Sure, it costs money, but so does pop and that's just a bunch of bad for you sugar water. Oh one more thing, tea!! Herbal teas come in all kinds of different flavors: roseberry, rose hips, and peppermint are some of my favorites (make sure that they are all natural and better yet organic). Drinking water can be boring. Green tea can give you an energy boost without too much caffeine.
I'll stop here. I could go on forever about food :-) Good luck!

Go running. Even if it's for a month. You can drop a lot of weight with just a 20 minute run a day. And if you add a another 10-15 minutes to that, you can have the dessert that you want because you know you're going to burn it off with the run. Then if you start thinking like that, you'll say to yourself do I really want to have that ice cream sundae. That's a 45 minute run I have to do. Swimming is also the best exercise you can do because you lose the most calories per hour of swimming. It's about 300 calories more an hour than running and you don't have the impact that running has on the body. I hope this helps.

I found that the best way to build stamina and subsequently your strength is a cardio type workout. This workout might consist of either walking, which they say is the best because it is low-impact, lessening the stress on the body. I'm not sure if this will get you in shape fast but it all depends on the person. I use to go to the gym and get on the stair-master which was great because it allowed me to move my body up and down and basicly ' float ' on the pedals which meant I had to fight gravity to build that strength and stamina. It required alot of dedication and focus. I lost a good amount of weight to my surprise. I find it exhiliarating to push myself to a goal. In the case of just being at home and if you don't have any machines you could try walking but I think you have to find something that you like. I know you mentioned dancing and that indeed is great because it involves the entire body. I remember dancing at a reception for quite awhile and the next morning I felt sore from all that dancing and 'hung over' hehe... Maybe looking into some type of shape fitness tapes that have dancing in them. One thing is true is that any type of stamina training will coincide with improved strength. Am I too late on this post ?
