okay I watched yet another interesting show on discovery channel lol apparently our ocean is dictates what will come of our earth in the future years, and scientists say the movement of the ocean is changing, the current or belt of the ocean is slowing down..they say we could be headed to an ice age anyway to read the full article here ya go! news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/11/1130_051130_ice_age.html

Interesting......yet they fail to say what type of inherent changes will come along in this process. Whether or not changes in the Jet stream and the flow of the sub-tropic winds will occur. Which in themselves could add to an already troubling phenomena.

Interesting.
In the film An Inconvenient Truth, host and narrarator Al Gore talks about how green house gasses get trapped in the ozone, which causes the earth to heat up. This makes the ice caps melt. The more water mass the earth has, the more flooding and the more cold air. (Land makes the earth warmer, the more land, the warmer the earth). So, when the ice caps melt, which is what they are doing now, then we'll be heading into an ice age. Right now we are going through the global warming phase.
The message in the film was that our industrial age has caused more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. If we can dramatically slow this process or stop it, we can slow down the rate of global warming.

Being an eviromental scientist a may correct a few things The gree house gases do not get trapped in the ozone the movie was a bit missleading in that part. The green house gases are all around us. The concentration in the atmoshpere is raising as a whole. The ice caps do actually reflect the sun so when the ice melts more energy gets absorbed in the ocean which means more warming. An cie age may occure when the ocean circulation gets altered as it may happen with the gulf stream. This would lead do a massive cooling in Europe (where I Live ) As a whole however the earth will likely heat up more and more. So it may get colder in some parts due to changed circulation but it will get even more warmer in other parts then. Hope I cleared up a few things.... C u Tom

I think I may have misquoted Gore on that point as well. Thanks for clearing that up!

All I know is global warming is happening now, and if we don't do something about it now to reverse it, we won't have an earth someday. Some of these politicians still deny it, but people just have to accept it and try to start reversing this process now. Polluting the air, cutting down all our trees, and littering in general are all bad things. Politicians rely on this foreign oil, but we have enough natural resources to use as fuel, such as corn oil. We have the knowledge and the sources, but I believe that people like Bush only care about money.... That's sad. Greed equals power, which results in endless war. Maybe someday God will give them all a wake up call. Just my personal thoughts.
