I voted Typical because i am not a vegetarian.. I do eat meat! Not a lot but i do.. especially fish.. I eat healthy which means No Fast foods, and Junk food. nothing processed or has preservatives, additives, colourings etc etc... I find i cannot keep my iron levels up high enough for me, with a vegetarian diet, and i am not one to take tablets..

I vote typical as well. I do like my steak once in a while if from a good source. With all these taminated veges we are hearing about, vegas may not be any safer. I like chicken and fish too. I eat at least a couple of meat meals during a week's time. I do eat ham once a year at thanksgiving, just would not be thanksgiving without it. LOL!

I must confess I do have terrible dietary habits, fast foods and all but with a low meat intake. So low that my wife calls me a vegetarian already. Even with this random dietary style I still have an overall cloistral of 118 a good body mass to height 165 lbs at 5’11”.
Other than the ethics of being a meat eater blank, do you see it as a higher spiritual path? That’s a hard one to separate but I am against how our food is treated and yet can feel the idea of meat eating on a different level. My idea is that if you are trying to divorce yourself from the animalistic food cycle a deep research into all the animal products in the market place should be considered. I applaud your idealism and wish you the best of luck.

well... actually I don't have a problem with the whole meat is murder, grew up on a farm so meat was a staple, I dont feel bad for the cute little lamb. The decision came after reading The china study www.thechinastudy.com/about.html which blew me away soo much infomation, i'm not talkin someone decided to write a book, i mean 100's of studys referenced. about the relation between diet and health and longevitey i wanna die an old man not in a hospital bed with all kinds of needles in me. i can't think of how else to put it, I guess the best thing is read it... goto the bookshop and have a browse, get it out from the libary. Well enough ramblin

Hi Blank, congratulations on your decision. I voted typical too just because I am not a vegetarian. I'm with DB. I eat mostly fresh, unprocessed, no chemicals added and organic. But I'm not exactly typical either, I avoid dairy almost completely. Occasionally I might have dairy as a minor ingredient in a meal, but other than that no milk, no cheese, no yogurt, etc. I am open to drinking some fresh unpasteurized organic milk from cows who are certified disease free and are fed fresh grass. Also I consider goat dairy a lot better alternative to cow, because of its composition it's easier to digest. Organic for sure as dairy tends to accumulate lots of chemicals, the same as meat. I said I am open, but I don't. It can be hard to find, and I don't need or want it bad enough to look (for more info go to http://www.realmilk.com). That said, I've been called a vegetarian by many people since I mostly have meat eaters around me. I hardly eat any meat at all (haven't had any in the last few months). I do eat some fish, at least once a week. Love seafood! My mom cooks it all the time, and I often go out to sushi. If not for that, I'd probably cut back on my fish intake too. I'm not a big soy fan, so in that way I'm not a typical American vegetarian. It has its own downfalls, especially processed products made from it. Tofu is actually a highly processed product too, might have it once in a while in a vegetable curry or something. Tempeh, miso and other fermented soy products are the ones that I consider healthful. For more info on vegan, go to www.vegsource.com There are a bunch of videos, including the ones by Dr. Campbell (China Study). The one where he talks about protein intake is very good, I'm guessing most of the research coming from his China Study. What does it leave me with?? Ha ha well lots of fruits and vegetables. I don't subscribe to the popular belief that fruit is bad because it has a lot of natural sugar. Nope, I eat fruit liberally, and feel fine. Salads are the best, lots of raw veggies, but I also love curries and cooked veggies. Oh, and I eat plenty of whole grains, and I don't mean the ones that are made from flour. I mean brown rice, millet, whole oats, quinoa, buckwheat, etc. I avoid wheat because of gluten. Why do I avoid eating meat? I spent plenty of time on the farm growing up too. Loved those fresh pork sausages. My reasons are mixed. For one, my inner guidance is telling me to eat lighter and more vegetarian. Two, I do believe meat and dairy are unhealthful from everything I researched, and the information that resonates with me. And three, I do feel bad about the way animals are treated. That turned out long. As a P.S. I'd like to say that the most important thing is your relationship with food. It's better to feel good about what you are eating, rather than have a restrictive diet you don't feel comfortable with. Lena

I read through those web pages and did not think about animal meat at all... I really should try it again ,if not just to see how much I would miss Meat ..! Oh ..! Who am I kidding ,.. I know I like Meat ,but...Many times I eat Veggie dishes ,not even thinking about meat ,...I think it is just that as difficult as it is to figure what to eat ,.. Meat is just easy..! I don't eat (med. rare) any more, I worry that it is best to be safe that it is cooked well.
Those Veggie dishes look easy too ... yumm...
Thanks again !

I have an interesting Diet habit, but from the choices i could not decide what to post! Mostly i like all foods, though i have to say i prefer not to eat many green peppers. I have even actually grown to like liver more and more!! I am not to sure about the subject of contaminated foods, or foods that are unfit to eat. If anything is contaminated or unfit, I simply won't find myself eating it - undietry habit!!!!

I'm working on cutting all processed foods out of my diet.
Incorporating more Fish, Fruits, Vegetables, Fish, Rice (without overdoing it on starch) and Tofu.

In a couple of months I will have four years of being lacto-ovo veg. I love cheese way too much to be vegan, also will not eat cheese that has animal rennet in it. I also try to eat all natural or organic food. Food is fuel for your body and my belief is that to have the healthiest body, you need to put the healthiest things in it.

The vegetarian diet is a really very healthy diet and feeds your body well (when coordinated properly of course). I don't think I could do it though. I like meat too much.

That's quite an achievement. I'm moving in that direction as well. I can go long periods of time without any flesh at all. I also eat 80% raw foods. I do go back to eating meat though, as every time I feel I'm ready to let go of it, I feel like binging, kind of like I'm resisting too much, and then I can't anymore. Ha ha, but meat for me is very rare. I don't eat dairy though and no gluten grains. I feel it's a cleaner way to eat. But then I probably would drink some raw milk from grass fed cow, but since I don't have easy access, I don't bother and drink green juice instead
