I hope its okay for me to post here. I'm using the Rider Tarot Deck which I received as a gift a few years ago but haven't used much since then. Anyway, here's what I got. What should I follow at this time? The Hermit He seems to be blind but he holds a lantern before him to illuminate his path. Perhaps he is focused inward and the lantern represents what he sees that guides him on his path. He walks on ice but with the lantern in his right hand and his staff in his left he finds his way. He seems to be standing still, perhaps his journey is not a physical one. His back is very straight but his head is bent forward as if concentrating on the illumination before him. He wears a hood and robe as gray as stone. This could be paralysis. So he is an astral traveler, the light of the lantern illuminates the way, the staff is like a chord which steadies him. His physical body is frozen, he stands on ice but the physical doesn’t matter, it is the journey within. There is a symbol behind him near the ground, I don’t know the meaning of but it reminds me of a tree. The card is number 9. I’m not sure what the number represents. His back is so stiff, it looks as if he is laying on something if I turn the card sideways, with his head propped up by a pillow. Asleep or in trance with the light above him showing him the way. It actually looks like a six pointed star is held by the lantern.

What should I follow at this time? The Sun This to me means a new beginning or rebirth. The start of a new journey. The Sun in the sky could represent my higher self. The naked child on the horse could represent a new me or a new aspect of me, a new cycle for me. Even the horse is young looking and could mean the start of a new journey. Happiness, celebration of new beginnings. There appear to be 24 spokes of light coming from the sun, the top three hidden behind the number at the top of the card. Each spoke alternates, one straight, the next wavy. This could represent the cycle of a day, the cycle of an experience. In the cycle are moments of calm and moments of change. The child holds a wavy banner which could represent the start of the cycle being a period of change. But a banner is also an announcement to the world of one’s identity so it could be an announcement of change. It could represent the first spoke of light. I think I like this one.

What should I follow at this time? 2 of Pentacles The number of the card is two. There are two ships riding the waves behind the figure, one about to reach a crest of a wave and the other reaching the bottom of a wave. The waves remind me of the rays of the sun from yesterday’s card. A time of change. Water represents change to me too. Perhaps the figure is not off balance but rather is able to juggle everything and dance while doing it all. One ship up, one ship down. One foot up, one foot down. One pentacle up, one pentacle down. Hmm the phrase that comes to mind is, “As above, so below.” Patterns, cycles, movement. Even the clothing of the figure has wave patterns. The colors of the clothes remind me of fire and fire represents life to me. Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is that what I focus on becomes my reality. The figure is focusing on the next step while holding everything in his hands. The waves I think are there to remind me that there are ups and downs we have to pass through to move forward.

Thank you, DB. I really appreciate the input and encouragement. Here's what I got today. Page of swords Protection is the first word that comes to mind with this one. The page carries a sword ahead while looking behind, ready to face any obstacles from the past or future. I feel like this could represent another step in a journey. There are ten birds above and I feel like the pattern of their flight means something but I’m not sure what that is. They could represent guides, observing how a situation is faced. The clouds could represent mystery. Clouds are a mixture of water and air. Water sometimes means transformation to me, air usually means spirit to me. So if there is an obstacle to overcome the clouds could represent how that will change me, hopefully in a good way.

I am thinking with this card that there is something coming and you have the strength to tackle it, you have your guides on your side as well as your own wisdom and strength to tackle anything, In fact it looks as though you have walked up to meet the challenge, rather than wait for it to come to you..whatever it is..... you have decided, now it is time! Definately in a good way Snow

My actual experience yesterday was of keeping the card in mind while going through the day. I was able to live more in the moment and avoid getting frustrated by situations which normally bring me down. I had a pretty good day. Here's what I got today: What should I follow at this time? 3 of cups I see this as a celebration. Receiving the rewards of work that has been done and celebrating. The three women are raising their cups in gratitude, in a toast. They could represent three aspects of myself or three aspects of the divine. One wears the colors of fire which I think of as life. One wears white which I think of as spirit and one wears gold. The highest cup raised is spirit. They could also represent friendship. The pumpkins on the ground represent harvest time to me. Another good one I think.

5 of Pentacles The first thing that pops in my mind with this one is sickness and poverty. There’s snow on the ground, everything is bleak and cold. The two figures are wearing worn out clothing one has crutches the other seems to huddle against the cold. The wall of the building they pass seem cold and imposing except for the window which seems rich and colorful. The two figures don’t pay attention to the stained glass window. Maybe if they stopped and paid attention, they would see that there is beauty in the world too. Maybe this is a card about learning to live in the moment no matter what. Or maybe this is a card about the need for being practical and not getting caught up in illusions. I’m not sure if I totally understand this card but I can relate to it. I’ve gone through poverty and bad health and depression and I’ve build my own windows in my mind about something better. Perhaps the door is right around the corner.

Thank you Lilacsky. Here what I got this morning. What should I follow at this time? Queen of Pentacles Her throne is in a lush meadow or forest. Carved into the throne are living things. There’s a cherub-like face carved into the top and what looks like a goat head on the arm of the throne. She holds the pentacle almost lovingly, like a baby or a child. She’s focused on it. Where she holds it could represent a chakra or the womb. It could represent nurturing. The card is bordered by vines and plants. It looks like there is fruit or flowers growing from the vines. Nature is everywhere in this card and she is a queen there. This could mean feeling at peace with my environment.. The Queen on this card is someone I would like to know. Being warm and nurturing, surrounded by life and at peace are all things I’ve been focusing on lately. This card reminds me of that.

good card! I see the queen of pentacles as a person who know how to manifest the things of her heart into reality, to me she stands for all the is physical, she to me is a very creative person, even one who is in the healing arts..abundance I usually feel with this card.

I like your ideas about that card, LilacSky. Your ideas about it are all things I'm filling my life with more and more. What should I follow at this time? Ace of Swords. A hand appears from a dark cloud or smoke holding up a sword high in the air. The hand itself represents to me some higher power. There are sparks on both sides of the sword which seem to be energy being sent up to the crown at the top of the sword. The crown is pierced by the sword and a palm leaf is on one side and another plant, (holly?) is on the other side. This could represent a choice. Because this all takes place above the earth, it could mean something that affects the mind or spirit. This image also reminds me of energy work I do, drawing energy through the chakras until ultimately piercing the crown chakra. The pierced crown could also represent knowledge or wisdom coming from the choice. The sword representing a clear cut choice. Its either one way or the other, cutting off the possibilities from one another.

What should I follow at this time? The Hermit Maybe time for introspection again and inner guidance. I was half expecting this to be the card. Its kind of funny because last night just before I went to sleep, I was thinking I needed to take some time today and go over some goals and center myself. I did a sort of guided meditation the other day that involved drawing three tarot cards at the start of it. The first card was supposed to represent my guide and the Hermit showed up. The second was to represent the issue that I was being guided with and I drew the Page of Swords. The last card was supposed to be the energy surrounding it or infusing it and I drew the Eight of Cups.

hi snow, sometimes I have found the ace of swords to be a very comlex card because it is a thought and action card both, and also can be a warning card that it will be a struggle to get through the situation or even if asking about love , it can mean the person is not right for you, this card portrays adversity in its finest though, meaning if you are determined to get through u can use your sharp focused mind(sword)to get through it.but again in a reading I think the ace of swords can clarify itself better in a spread because it does have many sides to it lol , but that go's with every card in torot lol...

hmm..I just read your hermit post, what is the guide spread you used?? Can you share it with us. The only thing I see with the spread is that maybe its just reasuring you to always follow yourself no matter what..I think the hermit is our own truths and we must listen to them"be honest with yourself" is defanetly key with the hermit. as far as the page of swords..Um ya know another complex card like the ace of swords, I see the page as honestly communications and perhaps even starting to talk to someone as in a lover or a new friend, new ideas coming in..with this card and taking action with those ideas. not like the page of wands where you only think of these things, the page of swords is ready to put them into action..does that make sense.. so since the hermit can be a guide card, I see it as even meeting a guide of some kind in your life, maybe with the page of swords combined you will begin to communicate with someone who will be very important to you and in your life soon.and eight of cups is usually ready to let go of something emotional within you, it is a big leap forward in the emotional department. but the eight of cups can even be emotions we hold on to since childhood..things that no longer serve us in our growth is the eight of cups..so yeah I see a good fresh start ahead, also the hermit being 9..endings getting ready for new beginings 10... interesting spread!

I really appreciate the input, Lilacsky. I'm learning a lot here. I recently discovered podcasts and I've mostly been listening to some devoted to writing fiction but I decided to look and see if there might be something tarot related and I found this one. briandavidphillips.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=19337So thought I'd give it a try and it was pretty cool. That is the one with the 3 card spread.

What should I follow at this time? The Sun. Again. It's interesting that I seem to keep drawing the same series of cards. I guess I need to be better about recording them all here but some cards that keep showing up for me are: The Hermit, The Sun, The Page of Swords. Edit: I suppose I should mention that as I picked up the deck of cards, one card slipped out. The Devil. I drew this card the other day when asking about my friend and what she needed to follow at this time. I read it as her being tied into a relationship based on illusions. I didn't share this with her, I just have been a little worried about some stuff she is going through. When the card slipped out, I thought of her right away, so I think that is what that one was about.
