news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/01/0125_050125_chimeras.htmlOkay, so how many of you are a bit disturbed after reading that article? I really don't think that a species that can barely take care of itself (a.k.a. HUMANS) has any business creating new crossover species. I can see the benefits that might arise from such experiments, but somebody somewhere will probably use this ability (once it's perfected) to do some pretty bad things. That's the way these things usually work, am I right? Could there someday be human/animal hybrids walking the earth, such as a human that has the features of a feline? Or perhaps a human that can regenerate body parts like a lizard? What do y'all think?

Hiya sleepwalker! Yeah that whole crossing human parts with animals doesn't fly well with me either! I think that animal species should kinda be left alone. If it gets too out of control, I don't know if this planet should be called earth anymore! LOL! Could you imagine if humans walked around with lizard eyes and tongues or something? Gross!

whoa, this is crazy, why can't humans leave animals alone, don't they go through enough torture?? I just get discusted over these things sometimes, yeah it may be a great scientific creatiion, but not in my eyes... I don't beleive in animal testing anyway, It is abuse

i dunno, I kinda like the idea to have cats eyes and a komodo dragons tongue. I think it would be neat, useful and great fun.
wouldnt you like to know what a bird sees thru its eyes? you know, migrating species of birds can see the magnetic flux lines of the earth, and that is how they guide themselves when they fly from north to south.
having the exes of an eagle would allow us to see far far away, and having the tongue of a komodo dragon, besides being fun sexually, would be neat to have their sense of smell from their tongue.
I wouldn't mind a bit:)
they now use special mice to grow human ears, and they use pigs and cows for other things. they benefit mankind in so many ways.
just my thoughts on the matter, and they do not neccessarily reflect my whole world view, just a small part of it.

well I wouldn't mind being a bird, so I could fly anywhere, but I still think its animal abuse ya know

Hey Rick! Yeah, I'm sure having the tongue of a Komodo dragon would be fun sexually, but you can always pierce your tongue and get similar results! LOL! j/k.... Haven't tried that yet!

Wow, that is weird stuff! That's like something you read in one of those checkout line papers. Maybe the bat-boy is real after all. I guess I'm for some of the lesser experiments since they can benefit people so much, but I definitely think that a line should be drawn somewhere.

Heh, it reminds me a book I once read. The story took place on a planet which inhabitants had the ability to modify their bodies in every fashion - for example grow additional arms, legs, tails, horns or even extra brains that were following them on their own legs. The book is a humorous parody, but it shows the aberrations to which uncontrolled technological progress can lead. So, I'm against crossing humans with animals, but hehe, what do you think about using genetic engineering to create mythical creatures, like dragons for example (personal mounted air transport)? ;D

yeah I think that would be pretty cool, but I don't think we should make dregons, maybe unicorns and pegusus

There was a movie that addressed this scenario. I think the name was "The island of Dr. Monroe"...or something like that. Marlin Brando starred in it. I think the danger would be creating a species of human that would take advantage of a superior ability to feed the lower base nature. Just like the movie surmised. It is fascinating however I wonder if some kind of Pandora's box might be opened.

(...) maybe unicorns and pegusus Man had already found a way to "make" unicorns. I read that aincient and medieval merchants captured young antilopes, and done something with their skulls, so the adult animal had it's horns combined into one - just like an unicorn. They were getting extremely high prices for those horns as people believed they had magical properties. Well, that shows how terribly cruel man can be. Uh.

I'm not against it... I like science. And I have no heart when it comes to animals like that.

sorry, then im feeling sorry for you, cause either you are not informed about how bad and terrible animals are truely suffering, or you will have to feel all this yourself one day.. im for science too, a lot - but we urgently have to differenciate, specially if we want to grow spiritually.. nani

Yes, I'm aware. I'm not sure how I feel about pigs, but when it comes to rats I have no feelings. There is a line for me, and rats have not crossed it. They are at the bottom along with insects.

Sleepwalker, Don't be so alarmed. The rednecks in the rural south have been trying to cross breed animals and humans for years.
