I was wondering if anyone here has experience with opening chakras- because I still consider myself a newbie at it, since I discover something new every single time I open up a center.
I have read that chakras have a backside - in other words, not only do you have 7 energy centers down the front side of your body - but 7 on the backside as well. I wouldn't say these centers are separate, the front seem to correspond to the ones on the backside- they are linked together.
Up until this point, I never opened a backside chakra before, so I was a little doubtful in their existence...until last night. I was laying on my stomach, when I "woke up" from sleep - although I really think my consciousness awoke, yet I was observing myself sleep. I concentrated on the brow/crown area, and surprisingly that backside center opened up. I'm guessing I opened up the crown, based on what happened. It was the most amazing feeling, it felt like rain drops were falling on me, streaming down me, all coming from the top of my head. And what was even cooler, when it stopped, I could make it start back up again.
This was a very neat experience. When I open the crown from the front side (while laying on my back) - it always feels like a massaging feeling...but from the back it's completely different, like laying down in the rain.
Geez, I would really just like to find someone that has experience with opening these centers - I guess I would just like to know what this energy work does for the physical body- cuz it feels so wonderful, I must be doing something good for myself?!

Hi summer, your experience sounds great and also quite familiar to me. I dont know about the term "opening"..,or better said, I dont know if it should mean that if it has opened once or several times then it should be open forever, I would say thats not the case, at least not for me. Sorry, a bit complicated expressed.. In my opinion a chakra can open and also close again, depending on work and subjective developement. In another thread here in the past I said that I am cautious with chakra-work or specified kundalini-exercises, cause I feel for myself and have known people to whom the sudden! openings didnt do anything good, maybe because the whole entire person was not at the right developped state yet. So I always feel a bit obligated to mention this, in case new people get interested and start like horses in a box to concentrate on their chakras only ..lol. Nevertheless I had exciting chakra-"openings" (means for me I could feel them very strongly and mostly strong pictures and also sometimes strong emotions like sadness were rising with this, depending on which chakra it was) But for me it happened always by itself, or by concentrating on the breath, by meditating generally. Also yesterday night, something very similar to your experince, the 6th chakra was.. yeah how to describe it.. like waving, spreading more and more, opening into the room I was lying in, like the little waves appear and grow in strength when a stone is thrown into the water. It supplied me with a wonderful feeling of peace too. And also like yours it was not only at my front as usual, but also behind and everywhere arround my head and then taking over to the whole body, while I was falling asleep.
So hey thank you for sharing your experience and also for that my own experience through this was highlighted for me again. Its an interesting topic anyways. best regards Nani

Thanks for sharing your experience Nani.
Well, I use the term "opening" rather loosely. What I mean is opening these centers up to energy flow, in a trance like state. For me, since I have a very active mind, I need to be borderline sleep (almost in a mental confusion state- like how you are right before entering a dream, kind of falling into a dream & coming to). I have trouble getting into a medatative state like that, so this is what works for me. Although my goal is to relax the mind at will, like you do.
It's interesting what you say about some not being ready to open their centers...I remember my first crown opening, and I had posted over on Robert Bruce's forum about the experience, I was just so excited...and a lot of people said "oh it's no biggy, I open that center all the time- it's nothing special". I couldn't believe that, how could it not be a big deal? I guess some are just not ready for it- perhaps their experiences are mild at best- because their body/mind wasn't ready.
Since this experience, I found 1 website that explained a little what I experienced- it was a website for practicing Reiki (sp?). They described it as an "energy rain fall" from the top of the head.
Once again, thanks for sharing- I love to hear similar accounts- as I'm still trying to find out all the mysteries to the human energy body.

yeah nani I opened my charkras once felt fantastic at the time but cos i didnt really know what I was doing, ended up being in a rather dark mood for a couple of days, so Havent tried it since but if you have some advice about closing them that would be useful as I find lots of people talk about opening them but rarely ever tell you how to close them properly

Hey. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. This forum hasn't been working too well for me lately. I'm gonna try to be on more for a little while since I'm large and n charge as a moderator again lol. Anyways, I have never had the rain thing I don't think, but I have done what you describe in that first quote hundreds of times. I do not mean to downplay it or say that it's no big deal by saying I've done it a lot, I just practice really really hard and have done it a lot. I think it IS a big deal. I would actually think of chakra opening as something you could do (and I do everyday) wide awake... just activating them... but as you said that term can be used loosely. I often initiate extremely massive energy sensations (to the point that it might feel like certain body parts are going to explode) in mind-awake body-asleep type states. I think it's a different type of energy when you are in those states. It's much much stronger, but I know it relates to what you can do when wide awake, because my nearly fool-proof recipe for getting into these states of massive energy is to raise energy while my body is awake first and then put my body to sleep (and feel for the energy). So anyway, do you have any specific questions about this? You asked what affects this has on the physical body... are you familiar with the health or anti-aging benefits of qi gong or tai chi etc? I had a teacher for a while that was 45 and you would have swore he was 25. His teacher lived to be 114 and I have heard of a 106 year old who came through bolder who looked like in his 60s and moved like a much younger man. You should look at my energy raising guide on the astral abyss. In there I talk about an man who would take challenges from the top fighters of different countries into his 80s and always win. The book that talked about him was by a former US champion that got beat up by him and a 70 year old lady as well. Some people (like Robert Bruce ) say that this deep trance energy is purely non-physical and does not relate to the body. That is not true. I have experimented with it thouroughly and I can feel it's affects on my energy centers later in the day. I've also upset my stomach with it and things. I can move it plenty to any given chakra (and it used to make my head feel like it was getting squished until I learned how to control it). This energy does not directly relate to exits either (although I am very familiar with the fact that you CAN exit from these states). I remember once a long time ago you were talking about opening a chakra and re-doing DNA and changing eye color. One day about a month ago I was in one of these states for a good 30 minutes and I thought of that and my hair is a little thin on top so I moved the energy up there until it became uncomfortable, and I imagined my hair growing in more fully, but it didn't work... that is not to say that this doesn't relate to the physical body, I know it does and I suspect that the benefits are similar to that of qi gong, but the problem is that those kinds of benefits are more long term, so I guess that really, only time will tell. Do you remember our member Cezyl? Well, i hope he doesn't mind me telling this, but he used to have a tumor in his back. One day he got into one of these deep trance energy states (a state that he was thereafter unable to duplicate) and his tumor shrunk and I think went away and doctors couldn't believe it. Cezyl also knew a GREAT projector named Louis Ruiz. He said that Louis was in his 30s but sounded younger than us (he'd talked to him on the phone), so again, maybe the affects are similar to that of qi gong. Oh yeah, and about the backsides of the chakras... I have felt that, (my "rear dantian"). They're there but it's my understanding that the benefits come from the fronts. As far as the back of the crown... I don't think there is a back, I think it just is that big and covers the whole head. That's about all I can think of to tell you right now. Do you have any questions? I can try things too and get back to you if you want me to, if you have any experiment ideas or anything.

Maybe the backs are for returning energy to its source
