I tend to zone out and "daydream" a lot--not hearing or seeing anything else around me. This happens during the day at all times (I try to pull myself out of it if I feel it coming on when I am driving...not a good situation), before I fall asleep, and when I wake up. They sometimes start out guided and sometimes they do not. I have had three dreams at night that I remembered within the last 2 weeks. I have not had any other remembered dreams in the 3 years before that and those were only when I was pregnant each time. All the rest have been these "daydreams". Some are recurring with slight variations (different people, same situation...same people, slightly off situation). What does anyone think about this? Could it be my brain trying to get the work done that doesn't get done at night while I am awake? I tend not to sleep well. Would you consider "daydreams" to even be in the same category as dreams had while sleeping? Thank you in advance. These have been happening for as long as I can remember so I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else too. Sorry for rambling...I tend to do that often....lol.

hmm, well you do dream every single night, wheather you recall them or not,so perhaps your subconscious is simply trying to reach you during the waking hours, your inner self(higher self) also this is considered the subconscious is probably trying to get your attention, I would pay special attention to any images that come to you during your daydreams, also if you make it know to your subconscious that you want to recall your dreams , than in time you will..its very simple, though usualy we are too tired or plain out lazy and not interested to recall them, because it is a bit of work in the begining..however once we create a routine or start working with our dreams, they will respond, and the sub will began to show us more.. dreams are a guide in life, I couldn't imagine not knowing them or not having them to help me, afterall it is our superconscious operating through our dreams to inform us of what is going on at our inner levels and where our spirit is trying to guide us at times in our lives. I would look at the simple techniques we have for dream recall, and just take it slow to start , but also take notes of these images of the day too.. hope thats helpful, good luck!

Thank you, LilacSky! That absolutely made sense to me. I think I noticed a place to record dreams here so I think I will start recording what I have remembered at night so far and whatever daydreams I have from here on out. Maybe it would help me notice a pattern or something. I will definately look into the dream recall techniques. I have always been fascinated by dreams and would love to remember them as much as possible.

I too have lots of daydreams. I often find it hard to get anything done because of them. Sometimes they can get in the way of everyday routine. But I do recall my dreams at night as well.

Yeah...I'm starting to remember my dreams at night little by little. It seems it all started when I bought a new mattress, but that still didn't explain why I didn't remember many way before I needed a new mattress. The only other thing I can attribute remembering to is that I have been putting a cloth in my pillow with lavender, tea tree and chamomile essential oils. Hmmmm....maybe that's it.

yeah ya know I think even day dreams are symbolic, however if we create them, well thats just having fun lol, but if they just seem to come to us without trying, I think they have secret messeges, kind of the way images create themselves when you have insomnia ya know, well for myself insomnia is actually a great state to get answers and to expand power over the subconscious, because your mind becomes so tired it begans the rem stages, without you being asleep..so to me its a fascinating thing or can be.

I never really thought of my daydreams that way, but I can see where they are there for a reason. I'd say I have about 20% that are guided/created by me and the rest just sort of come and go on their own.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what kind of daydreaming you are talking about, but sometimes I daydream uncontrolled. The way I do it, is I close my eyes and the next thing I know I am seeing images like deserts and such, but my mind has to be preoccupied (like praying).

Yeah a majority of my daydreaming just pops into my head when I start zoning out. I would say that about 20% of my daydreams I will create in my mind myself. The rest I will just find myself zoning out and it will just pop into my head out of nowhere. Sort of like a flash of pictures, but they usually flow like a dream.

Another good time for that sort of daydreaming, for me, is just after I wake up. Those daydreams are pretty strange and quite convincing as to what "world" I am living in...

Finally, a topic with my name on it. I too daydream but I control it. When I "zone-out" I still manage to control what i'm thinking about.
I have returned!

Finally, a topic with my name on it. Glad to accommodate! Lol.
I have now found something to use my reoccurring daydreams so it is helping me to control them a little more...ok, I am trying to use it to control them a little more, but I am still working on it. Since they look like movies to me in my mind and I am a very visual person, I decided to start using them in my writing. I had one over and over again for over a week...started out not controlled and now as I am writing I control part of it as I need more information and just let the rest happen on its own. So far it is working out pretty good and have almost finished 12 pages. So I guess I am getting two things out of it--I am finally writing something, which I had been struggling with lately and I am slowly learning how to control my daydreams/"zoning out" episodes

That is good you are writing something! I'm suprised you can come up with so much from a daydream, I can't put mine into words... I don't have the words.

Well, I see it all as a movie in my mind so I just describe what I see. When I need dialog, then I close my eyes and try to recreate the daydream or will it to continue and think about what they would be saying. So far it is working. I just had this one over and over again (extremely reoccurring) so it was ingrained in my mind...maybe it is a one time thing...haven't tried it on other daydreams yet, but so far it seems to be working. And I am trying to control my thoughts and "zoning out" so that it won't happen so much except when I want it to. I guess I'll just take it one step at a time and see what happens.

I don't know what makes me so different from all of you (all yall). I don't just go zone-out at random times. It's more like I let myself zone-out. I can to let my mind wander but it does not go very far.
