This is sort of a common topic so I thought I copy and paste a question into a sticky post. A lot of this may not be specifically relevant to other people's experiences, but anyone who reads this will have an understanding of heavy energies such as "exit energies".
Since this is just one big post, I made the different people's posts different colors: Spinner= purple, Ronni= Yellow, Nani= Orange
Question: Hi, it was suggested that I post this inquiry here in OBE. Over the last couple of months I have been experiencing these waves of energy that move through the souls of my feet to my head. They occur as I am going to sleep and are extremely uncomfortable. If I brace myself, I become totally exhausted. If I abandon myself, my arms twitch and my hands curl. They don't go away. I either, out of exhaustion, finally fall asleep...somehow, or I have to get up because I can't take it anymore.
I've been looking through the forum and the astral abyss website for info and someone wrote about these kind of energy waves and being able to control them. I feel like I need more info on how to deal with the waves and what it exactly is that's happening. They don't happen every night, but enough to post a request for HELP!
Anything anybody knows would be oh so helpful. Thanks!
Let me just ask some questions first. Does the energy rise specifically up your spine in a painful way, or a way that is more significant than how it passes through the rest of your body? Or does it just sort of pass smoothly from your feet to your head? Does it ever come back down your spine and stop anywhere? What does it do when it gets to your head? Does it accumulate there? and is that uncomfortable if it does? Or does it just pass out the top of your head?
It just keeps going up or what? Is that it? How many waves per second or minute? Does it feel like water rushing through you as if you're a hollow log?
Do you do any energy work like qi gong or yoga?
Can you move your body easily when this is going on or are you in a state where your body is heavy or paralyzed? and if you do move your body, does the energy stop? Have you ever EXITED your body when this is going on whether on purpose or accidentally? What is you're state of mind like when this is going on?
Sorry, that was a lot of questions.
The energy starts off in gentle waves from the soles of my feet through my entire body, exiting through the top of my head. It starts out smoothly and then the waves get increasingly stronger. The energy doesn't circle back down towards any other part of my body, it just moves through. There is about a second or two for me to catch my breath before another wave comes on. I definitely feel hollow when these waves happen, but it's more like being electrocuted. lol...like: Within the few second between the waves, my body flays, as if energy is trying to exit from my hands and legs. Gosh, I don't know if that makes sense...it's kind hard to describe. I'm really not sure how many waves are occurring per minute. I'd guess it's several per minute. The waves don't ever speed up, but the intensity seems to be increasing...or either my endurance is descreasing...hard to say.
Yes on the yoga, but more interestingly, I have over the past 3 months or so been pursuing tensegrity...which at first was bizarre, but its growing on me.
I can easily move my body when this is happening. It only comes on when I am trying to go to sleep though. If I turn on my side, it slowly dissipates. If I stand or sit up, it stops. I have not exited my body when this happens. But, just before these waves showed up in my life, I had my first intentional projection (2 more after that). Actually, I wanted to lucid dream, but ended up projecting. My state of mind when these things happen...I try to stay conscious, to experiment, to understand what is happening...and when they get really strong, it takes all my focus to be able to deal with it. The idea came that I am trying to separate from my body, but I really don't know how...all of this is just happening!

it sounds like your energy body is taking over here..and of course it can lead to out of body..maybe your energy is stronger than most people's..and you have high vibratorial rates,higher than the average person's..and it could very well be showing you your own personal way of leaving your body...
When I was asking the questions about your spine I was checkin to see if it might have been kundalini related. It kinda sounded that way with what you were saying about it only rising, but I guess all these ‘bigger’ energy states are a little kundalini-ish in certain ways. You’re definitely not experiencing a kundalini awakening, which is good. If you were it’d be more centered on your spine and would come from your tailbone area, not your feet. Kundalini is something you don’t want (unless you’re willing to risk a lot) so don’t focus on your tailbone area in this state. You’ll understand why more in a minute.
I think it’s safe to say that this is in a large way a result of the tensegrity (which from what I understand is basically the same as some forms of qi gong). What’s the book that teaches tensegrity? “Magical Passes”? When I want to deal with massive energies, what is easiest is if I just do qi gong first to open myself up energetically and then enter a deep trance and find it. I assume that this all started after you started tensegrity, is that right? If it didn’t it doesn’t matter, I’d just blame the yoga instead lol.
I’ve never had EXACTLY the same thing, (I’ve never had it just pass through me out my head) but you’re not very alone in this. I’ve had what feels like a rushing river of energy coming up my legs (it also will reverse directions abruptly) and I’ve often dealt with energies that can make it feel like I’m going to blow off a hand if I move it there. Once I would reach that critical point I’d back off of course… if you move more than what feels like it will explode a limb lol, let me know what happens and you are braver than me: ) I’ve also had different things like balls of energy racing through me and stuff. I can definitely relate to feeling like you’re being electrocuted, the only thing that is different about your experience is that it goes straight on out your head. Mine never does that.
I’ll tell you how you might control this energy in a minute, but first let me tell you what I think would be the easiest way to AVOID it (besides stopping tensegrity). I think that the easiest way to avoid the energy is to get out of body (which I think you could do from this state). You might be concerned that if you leave your body unattended that the energy might have a damaging affect on it. I don’t think that it would. Before I learned to control it I would often have pain in energy centers (partially because of having unbalanced chakras), and I would get out of body as a way of running for it. Nothing bad ever happened. Sometimes I’d be a little sore from the energy and I could feel later in the day that the energy centers had had some heavy activity, but I think that those results were from my manipulating it while still IN body. Based off of my experience, if anything would ever cause a problem it would be manipulating the energy while in, and not getting out of body. I have had some side affects from heavy manipulation of this energy… such as, I used to do a projection technique where I would just keep moving energy to my abdomen until my “abdomen” of my second body would arch out of my physical body (or maybe more accurately expand out). It was sort of like giving birth to myself. But moving that amount of energy could cause my stomach to be upset. I also used to move this energy to chakras and that could cause pain because it was too strong. I suggest you don’t try this or move it to anywhere on your spine until you have good control because you can damage energy centers. It’s called “blowing out” a chakra. It’s not good. I think that it’s safe to escape because I think it’s obvious that you take at least a good portion of this energy with you when you go leaving your body empty of anything that could cause damage. Some of what you are feeling may also just be the sort of mixing of your second and physical body. That would also stop when you get out.
You have read about the role out technique right? Give that a try from this state and if that doesn’t work try decreasing your consciousness (you can regain it once out). When you said that you can turn on your side when this is going on; somewhat depending on what happened after that, I would say that there is a VERY good chance that you were out of body after you turned on your side but thought you were still in regardless of what the sensations then did. This is because it’s easy for your second body to be the most primed to move from these states. I’m not saying you went anywhere, just picture your second body superimposed in you physical body, on it’s side while your physical was on it’s back with your second body’s shoulder sticking out of your chest. Also for avoiding this, you could try sleeping in different positions. For me it’s much more likely if I’m on my back. You might also pay attention to your sexual activity in relation to this as sexual activity or the lack of it can influence what states you can end up in making it easier to get in certain states. This is because there’s a strong link between sexual energy and other energies. Trying to lose consciousness may also be a way to try to avoid this… I guess. You could also do tensegrity and yoga early in the day when you won't be sleeping soon. Have you been doing it before bed?
Now as for controlling it… I am not a master of any of this and I have only been doing any of it for a couple years, so I can only tell you what works for me and since the states are similar hopefully it will work for you too. Although I haven’t been doing it long, I have practiced hard (some aspects of this anyway) and I have dealt with this energy hundreds of times. There is a saying that wherever your mind is, there too is your qi. While concentrating on sensations during qi gong or tensegrity can cause the feelings to dissipate, if you are like me, that saying will apply directly to dealing with this energy. The more you concentrate on a sensation the more energy will accumulate there and the more the sensation will increase. So when you feel the energy in your hands and examine the feeling, the sensation will get worse in your hands. Whenever you stay conscious for the purpose of feeling the energy, the more you are going to sink into the energy. To avoid strong sensations concentrate elsewhere, like a chair in your room… imagine sitting in it or something and that should cause sensations to decrease or remain more even as you would not be feeling any specific points on your body… probably. There is also a chance that concentrating outside of your body will cause you to leave it. It might be even better to just keep your mind clear if you can.
To move energy you could also try using “awareness hands” which Robert Bruce (thinks* he invented lol). Just basically imagine that there are hands in your body moving the energy around, and feel them. It shouldn’t be hard since the energy is strong. You could also just try moving it without a technique. If you moved some in your leg, it’d be like you had a remote control ball in your leg controlled by your brain just like you control an arm or whatever when you’re awake. Remember to not move much, if any to anywhere on your spine and if you do, move it back to your lower abdomen just below your naval afterwards as that is you “lower dantian” and primary storage center. Also remember that feeling any part of your body specifically may move energy to that body part, and the longer you feel that part, the more the energy will increase doing whatever you are feeling it doing.
So that’s what works for me, hopefully it will work for you. It may take a little practice, but these ideas are like the ‘tools’ that you can use to control this.
I may be forgetting something… if I remember something else I’ll add it. TO EVERYONE ELSE: Notice how easily she is getting into this state (the vib' state) after energy training. That's what I've been saying. It makes it so much easier.

I feel so much more prepared to deal with these waves when they come on. I hear you! I will pursue the books you recommended.
I have several questions, but lets start with two:
First, what exactly are the waves and where are they coming from? I believe you are right about the tensegrity, it's gotten to the point where I find myself doing it randomly throughout the day if I feel sluggish or distracted. My energy, through the freakin' roof some days! lol, I've been calling it tensetamine.
Second, what do you mean about sexual activity. This is another interesting point for me because, well, I've been celibate for almost 2 years now. Never thought I'd say that, but I am. It originally started by me raising my standards, lol, which basically ruled everyone out! But for the last several months, it's been a conscious choice...a lifestyle choice to focus my energy on personal growth and awareness; knowledge if you will.
A final comment, I really appreciated:
I'm so focused on how the energy feels that it really begins to hurt. Geez, we really cannot underestimate the power of the mind or qi. Now that I am aware of what you are saying I realize that I have been torturing myself! lol- oops! There's a metaphor in there somewhere...

So about the sex… I only said to “pay attention” to it, because I think you’ll more have to figure out how that relates yourself and it may not even be important. I said to just take note because I can only speak for guys and it may be (and from what I hear IS) different for girls. You are a girl right? It doesn’t say on your profile. You must be a girl because you said that you raised your standards and men don’t have standards lol. The male orgasm disperses qi, causes qi loss and also can make your body more relaxed, making certain states of mind easier to enter. Frequent orgasm for men also is harmful to energy development and makes the lower chakras under active. I have ‘heard’ all these things, but can also say without a doubt from experience that these things are true. A higher sex drive benefits energy work and doing energy work can conversely raise the sex drive. I normally don’t have to bother touching my upper chakras as they are naturally active enough, and I recently brought my lower chakras up to the same level (so that I haven’t needed to stimulate them) by doing a Taoist technique for raising the sex drive. It worked so well that I think I will go easier on it as my base chakra became so active that I was afraid that my kundalini was going to rise. It worked too well for other reasons too. Those techniques have been what I’ve been excited about lately lol… get it? I’m still learning myself you know, and this Taoist stuff is really cool.
Anyways, female sex or orgasm may or may not be the same as men’s… I’ve heard some people say the affects are similar and others say they’re not. I don’t think that your last two years could be resulting in what you’re experiencing in any way unless your sex drive (and therefore energy) has been building for the last 2 years straight… I don’t think it works like that, it must top out or even decrease or something if there’s totally nothing going on… I don’t know. Do keep in mind though that masturbation is the same as sex. Just keep an eye on things to see what, if any the affects of sex or lack of it might be. Some people say that Kundalini is more likely to rise when celibate, but I think that’s probably a half truth. If celibacy is sky-rocketing your sex drive then it would probably help. Short term celibacy (like 2 weeks worth) would increase men’s sex drives, but going beyond that I think that testosterone levels fall, so a man’s sex drive doesn’t increase endlessly. Again I can only speak for men and kundalini isn’t what you’re experiencing anyway… I’m just talking about sex and energies.
You also asked what the energy is and where it’s coming from… I assume that you are not asking me what qi is, but are referring to just this energy, right? It doesn’t feel like qi does it? It seems like it’s too massive to still fall into the “qi” category… but the word “qi” doesn’t have a very limited definition. Some people refer to more than just what rises from your tailbone as ‘kundalini’. They also say that when talking more massive energies or just when talking about life force energy, but when they use that word in that sense it’s really still qi they’re talking about. So I guess it’s still qi. I think that we are just getting into a state in which we are really susceptible to it. In qi gong you relax your muscles as much as possible because tension hinders qi flow, (my teacher said that you can ALWAYS relax more) so it makes sense that if you enter a mind awake-body asleep state qi flow would be enhanced because of how relaxed your body is. That is not to say though that anytime we are asleep we have huge qi flow because of our relaxed bodies (it’d be impossible to sleep through anyway… I get woken up by it if it ever happens while I’m completely asleep) I think it’s much more likely to happen when you’re mind is awake, I suspect, and my teacher said that energy relates to brain waves and waves change when you’re asleep. This energy tends to come in episodes and while I think that you are, at least to some degree entering a body-mind state like that, I think your qi flow increases because you have become a conductor and you have qi flow ‘momentum’, so to speak for the energy to build on because of your tensegrity. If you didn’t have a flow already going it wouldn’t multiply when in this state. You probably also feel it, AND have a bigger influence over it with your mind because when you begin to enter a mind-awake-body-asleep state, your awareness begins to shift from your physical body to your energy body as is evidenced by the fact that in a true state like this, your energy (astral) body will be the one that moves if you try to move anything. It is the most prominent body in this state so you can FEEL what it’s doing more, but also have more control over what it’s doing. Think about if you ran really, really hard… you would be in a very alert, physical state and you could feel your blood pumping. You would be very much in the realm of your physical body if you will, but when you put your body to sleep you begin to enter the realm of your non-physical body.
As for where this energy comes from: it is possible to “have qi” to a much greater degree than the average person, but it’s also possible to be a conductor of qi. We are all conductors to some degree and we all have qi to some degree, but energy work enhances what we have and what we conduct simultaneously. This energy can both come from outside of you as well as within you. I think it’s both, at least for me.

I don't really understand the sex spiel. I'm going to reread it oh 50 or so more times to try and understand. It's certainly not your explanation, just my slow brain...: ) I chose celibacy because the more I read about it, I learned that women lose a lot of energy through the act of sex; that men are the true benefiters of sex. It may seem equal, but from what I'm gettin', that is a very covert illusion designed to keep women from understanding the amazing abilities of their wombs...such as perceiving energy directly and using the womb to evolve. I'm leaving a lot out because I don't want to spur any arguments. This is just my personal belief and so far, I have no regrets. AND, I am not a fem-nazi...just for the record ; )
AND, your advice is totally working for me!!!!! I can't bleepin' believe it! Those waves came on last night and I focused my mind on projecting and moving the energy around and the waves became subtle and moved where I focused my mind! It was so exciting. And strangely, the energy didn't feel like it was exiting my body. It would come up through my feet and I could make it stop at my womb, stomach, or head, or where ever. It was surprisingly easy. Wherever I moved the energy, I felt a shifting and expanding, especially at the stomach. In other spots it was more like a welling up. If I lost focus, the waves came on stronger again...and then I refocused on controlling the energy and projecting and they became mild again. I didn't project, but I felt close. I haven't properly reviewed the roll out method yet so that will probably help....
Those waves came on twice last night...as I was falling asleep and then later I woke up in the night and worked with them again. I feel fantastic today- All smiles!

Although I haven’t been doing it long, I have practiced hard (some aspects of this anyway) and I have dealt with this energy hundreds of times. There is a saying that wherever your mind is, there too is your qi. While concentrating on sensations during qi gong or tensegrity can cause the feelings to dissipate, if you are like me, that saying will apply directly to dealing with this energy. The more you concentrate on a sensation the more energy will accumulate there and the more the sensation will increase. So when you feel the energy in your hands and examine the feeling, the sensation will get worse in your hands. Whenever you stay conscious for the purpose of feeling the energy, the more you are going to sink into the energy. To avoid strong sensations concentrate elsewhere, like a chair in your room… imagine sitting in it or something and that should cause sensations to decrease or remain more even as you would not be feeling any specific points on your body… probably. There is also a chance that concentrating outside of your body will cause you to leave it. It might be even better to just keep your mind clear if you can.
To move energy you could also try using “awareness hands” which Robert Bruce (thinks* he invented lol). Just basically imagine that there are hands in your body moving the energy around, and feel them. It shouldn’t be hard since the energy is strong. You could also just try moving it without a technique. If you moved some in your leg, it’d be like you had a remote control ball in your leg controlled by your brain just like you control an arm or whatever when you’re awake. Remember to not move much, if any to anywhere on your spine and if you do, move it back to your lower abdomen just below your naval afterwards as that is you “lower dantian” and primary storage center. Also remember that feeling any part of your body specifically may move energy to that body part, and the longer you feel that part, the more the energy will increase doing whatever you are feeling it doing.
So that’s what works for me, hopefully it will work for you. It may take a little practice, but these ideas are like the ‘tools’ that you can use to control this.
I may be forgetting something… if I remember something else I’ll add it. TO EVERYONE ELSE: Notice how easily she is getting into this state (the vib' state) after energy training. That's what I've been saying. It makes it so much easier.

I feel so much more prepared to deal with these waves when they come on. I hear you! I will pursue the books you recommended.
I have several questions, but lets start with two:
First, what exactly are the waves and where are they coming from? I believe you are right about the tensegrity, it's gotten to the point where I find myself doing it randomly throughout the day if I feel sluggish or distracted. My energy, through the freakin' roof some days! lol, I've been calling it tensetamine.
Second, what do you mean about sexual activity. This is another interesting point for me because, well, I've been celibate for almost 2 years now. Never thought I'd say that, but I am. It originally started by me raising my standards, lol, which basically ruled everyone out! But for the last several months, it's been a conscious choice...a lifestyle choice to focus my energy on personal growth and awareness; knowledge if you will.

So about the sex… I only said to “pay attention” to it, because I think you’ll more have to figure out how that relates yourself and it may not even be important. I said to just take note because I can only speak for guys and it may be (and from what I hear IS) different for girls. You are a girl right? It doesn’t say on your profile. You must be a girl because you said that you raised your standards and men don’t have standards lol. The male orgasm disperses qi, causes qi loss and also can make your body more relaxed, making certain states of mind easier to enter. Frequent orgasm for men also is harmful to energy development and makes the lower chakras under active. I have ‘heard’ all these things, but can also say without a doubt from experience that these things are true. A higher sex drive benefits energy work and doing energy work can conversely raise the sex drive. I normally don’t have to bother touching my upper chakras as they are naturally active enough, and I recently brought my lower chakras up to the same level (so that I haven’t needed to stimulate them) by doing a Taoist technique for raising the sex drive. It worked so well that I think I will go easier on it as my base chakra became so active that I was afraid that my kundalini was going to rise. It worked too well for other reasons too. Those techniques have been what I’ve been excited about lately lol… get it? I’m still learning myself you know, and this Taoist stuff is really cool.
Anyways, female sex or orgasm may or may not be the same as men’s… I’ve heard some people say the affects are similar and others say they’re not. I don’t think that your last two years could be resulting in what you’re experiencing in any way unless your sex drive (and therefore energy) has been building for the last 2 years straight… I don’t think it works like that, it must top out or even decrease or something if there’s totally nothing going on… I don’t know. Do keep in mind though that masturbation is the same as sex. Just keep an eye on things to see what, if any the affects of sex or lack of it might be. Some people say that Kundalini is more likely to rise when celibate, but I think that’s probably a half truth. If celibacy is sky-rocketing your sex drive then it would probably help. Short term celibacy (like 2 weeks worth) would increase men’s sex drives, but going beyond that I think that testosterone levels fall, so a man’s sex drive doesn’t increase endlessly. Again I can only speak for men and kundalini isn’t what you’re experiencing anyway… I’m just talking about sex and energies.
You also asked what the energy is and where it’s coming from… I assume that you are not asking me what qi is, but are referring to just this energy, right? It doesn’t feel like qi does it? It seems like it’s too massive to still fall into the “qi” category… but the word “qi” doesn’t have a very limited definition. Some people refer to more than just what rises from your tailbone as ‘kundalini’. They also say that when talking more massive energies or just when talking about life force energy, but when they use that word in that sense it’s really still qi they’re talking about. So I guess it’s still qi. I think that we are just getting into a state in which we are really susceptible to it. In qi gong you relax your muscles as much as possible because tension hinders qi flow, (my teacher said that you can ALWAYS relax more) so it makes sense that if you enter a mind awake-body asleep state qi flow would be enhanced because of how relaxed your body is. That is not to say though that anytime we are asleep we have huge qi flow because of our relaxed bodies (it’d be impossible to sleep through anyway… I get woken up by it if it ever happens while I’m completely asleep) I think it’s much more likely to happen when you’re mind is awake, I suspect, and my teacher said that energy relates to brain waves and waves change when you’re asleep. This energy tends to come in episodes and while I think that you are, at least to some degree entering a body-mind state like that, I think your qi flow increases because you have become a conductor and you have qi flow ‘momentum’, so to speak for the energy to build on because of your tensegrity. If you didn’t have a flow already going it wouldn’t multiply when in this state. You probably also feel it, AND have a bigger influence over it with your mind because when you begin to enter a mind-awake-body-asleep state, your awareness begins to shift from your physical body to your energy body as is evidenced by the fact that in a true state like this, your energy (astral) body will be the one that moves if you try to move anything. It is the most prominent body in this state so you can FEEL what it’s doing more, but also have more control over what it’s doing. Think about if you ran really, really hard… you would be in a very alert, physical state and you could feel your blood pumping. You would be very much in the realm of your physical body if you will, but when you put your body to sleep you begin to enter the realm of your non-physical body.
As for where this energy comes from: it is possible to “have qi” to a much greater degree than the average person, but it’s also possible to be a conductor of qi. We are all conductors to some degree and we all have qi to some degree, but energy work enhances what we have and what we conduct simultaneously. This energy can both come from outside of you as well as within you. I think it’s both, at least for me.

I don't really understand the sex spiel. I'm going to reread it oh 50 or so more times to try and understand. It's certainly not your explanation, just my slow brain...: ) I chose celibacy because the more I read about it, I learned that women lose a lot of energy through the act of sex; that men are the true benefiters of sex. It may seem equal, but from what I'm gettin', that is a very covert illusion designed to keep women from understanding the amazing abilities of their wombs...such as perceiving energy directly and using the womb to evolve. I'm leaving a lot out because I don't want to spur any arguments. This is just my personal belief and so far, I have no regrets. AND, I am not a fem-nazi...just for the record ; )
AND, your advice is totally working for me!!!!! I can't bleepin' believe it! Those waves came on last night and I focused my mind on projecting and moving the energy around and the waves became subtle and moved where I focused my mind! It was so exciting. And strangely, the energy didn't feel like it was exiting my body. It would come up through my feet and I could make it stop at my womb, stomach, or head, or where ever. It was surprisingly easy. Wherever I moved the energy, I felt a shifting and expanding, especially at the stomach. In other spots it was more like a welling up. If I lost focus, the waves came on stronger again...and then I refocused on controlling the energy and projecting and they became mild again. I didn't project, but I felt close. I haven't properly reviewed the roll out method yet so that will probably help....
Those waves came on twice last night...as I was falling asleep and then later I woke up in the night and worked with them again. I feel fantastic today- All smiles!
