Walking, as many things, can easily be taken for granted. Different 'gaits' of power can benifit in many unexpected ways when we apply our intent, and learn the many different, natural ways, to move. Though many can easily say "I already know how to walk", walking is usually performed without intent, and without attention, and is therefor usually very clumsy.
Learning The Art of Walking expands our awareness, it brings in attention the connections of our 'hard/physical' body in relation to our 'soft/energy' body, as well as the relations to our surrounding.
The Art of Walking opens new doors, and new states of awareness that our spirit yearns for. It opens us up to the magic of our natural surroundings, that are usually not brought into our attention. By the observation of various the gaits of animals, the study of different cultures over time, and the many different aspects of our walks in relation to our awarenss, has opened many doors to breaking the habits of what we have learned.
The goals of preforming different gaits are; balance, creation of seperate realities that we posess, states of awareness that better enable the direction of intent, safety, physical fitness and endurance, energy raising, well-being, oneness, and the expansion of awareness..
By observing how one walks can reveal many things, and is very benificial. While learning new walks, is is good to simply observe yourself and others, animals, friends, or strangers in the streets.
(1a) THE FOX STANCE
Many different gaits are often begun in what has been called the "Fox Stance", and is not a walk itself, but a beginning point to set your intent.
1- Stand with feet shoulder width apart.
2- Take one step forward with your left foot, leaving the right foot where it is.
3- Your upper body should slightly bent forward, with more of your wieght on your back foot. It usually takes some practice to achive correctly. With more weight on the back foot, your back knee will be slightly bent, more so then your laft knee.
4- Place your arms in a free, comfortable position, at your sides.
5- Adapt some type of unfamiliar position with your hands. See below..
6- Take a few long deep breaths, and say out loud your intention, of the walk you are about to undergo. Words are very powerful, and only a few will suffice.
By placeing your left foot forward, you are automatically setting yourslef up for the next step. Often we walk swinging our legs, with our heels coming down firmly to graound, but this is clumsy, and noisy, and can easily damage beautiful insects, and plants, or even step clumsily on a damaging object.
Place nothing in your hands, as this will draw energy from your body, and restrict the flow of your energy, and so if you need to carry things with use your pockets, or a pack of some kind.
By placing your hands in a certain position you are directing attention to them. Any position is good, whether is a loose fist, slightly curled hands, a position with the middle finger touching the thumb, two finger outstreched etc etc etc.
By speaking your intent is a sure way to direct your attention, as well as letting your suroundings know your intent. Use a clear voice, and few words. This is a powerful tool.
**The information within this thread comes from many various sources, as well as my own observations, that will be citated shortly.**

GAIT OF ATTENTION
This gait is the first walk, and in which all walks are based upon therreafter. This walk will convert the mundane walk of everyday life into the walk of your drem to attain knowledge and balance, to walk through life. This may sound like a simple walk, however the depth of awareness will increase as you master it.
1- Start in the Fox Stance.
2- Begin walking in total silence, moving in a rhythm that is most comfortable and natural to you. Speed is not important.
3- Focus your attention to your breath, aligning it to the rhythm of your walk. This comes more naturally as you practice this walk.
4- Focus attention to the sounds, scents, and all elements around you in your perception. Be not distracted by your thoughts, however try not to stop them, neither to not give them any extra attention. But listen to them as you listen to your surroundings, this will also come more naturally over time, and eventually will be harmonious with your walk, your breathe, and your surroundings.
5- Be alert to your body and how it feels as you are walking. Focus attention to various parts of your body, and continuosly change which part you are focusing on. Focus attention to any 'heavyness', tightness, tingleings, etc.
The ego often spends enormous amounts of attention, and time, focused on the future, and the past, this walk will enable attention of the moment, in my opinion where life resides.

"Walking is the great adventure, the first meditation, a practice of heartiness and soul to humankind. Walking is the exact balance between spirit and humility." ~Gary Snyder
(2) GAIT OF BALANCE
The goals behind this gait is to attain balance, to be friendly withour environment and body, to develop a balanced gait. Usually we swing our legs and crash down with our heel, carrying the weight of entire body, which, to say the least, is unhealthy to us, and our surroundings.
Walking with balance is to walk evenly with the laft, and the right, the rational, and the spiritual, our ego and our energy to be dualistic in life.
Life is balanced, and so we must become aware of balance within. This gait can be done anywhere outdoors, on a flat terrain, for easy and relaxed practice.
1- Walk comfortably and relaxed, however you do. Exploring how your body feels.
2- After a few minuutes start to focus attention on your feet as they touch the ground, Place you weight when you choose, so that weight isn't transfered until you choose.
3- Continue this untill you are comfortably walking, without tip-toeing, nor without crashing down heavily with your heels, feeling smooth. Refer to the fox stance.
4- Walk for awhile, and then notice your centre of balance, and then stop. Again once you have stopped focus on your centre of balance. The goal is to stop and be able to have your foot off the ground, with good balance. Continue this practice of stopping randomly, with the element of surprise.
While doing this walk it is important to note, when you stumble, when you need to place your foot behind you for balance, or infront, how you feel when walking, how you feel when stumbling, your thoughts as these things occur, and why. This is important to learn to walk through life, this attention effects many things in your life, and with proper attitude, and openess will begin to place inthe realm of magic, and fulfillment.

GAIT OF THE CHILD
This walk is devived to go backwards in time, to feel like a child again, to a time when there were no limits and restrictions, to a time where the world was full of mystery. As adults we rationalise and explain everything away, thinking we know everything, and are firm, so we must forget we know everything and begin looking at everything again through a childs eyes.
This spell can be easily broken and we can again see through the eyes of a child, freely.
1- Outside begin the GAIT OF ATTENTION. After about 10 minnutes begin think back in time, feel yourself becoming younger, and travel back to the feelngs of being youthful and joyous, as young as 4-5 years old.
2- See and feel as a child, and look at things as though you have never seen them, and observe them for the first time, studing them. Pick up things, like blades of grass, and carefull examine them. Chase insects, butterflies, jump in a puddle, look up to the sky and watch the clouds, look and pick flowers, see the birds fly in wonderment, jump in the air, fall to the ground, see al the magic around you. This is a great walk!

GAIT OF STEALTH
This is a great walk! It will enable you to move silently adn eventually swiftly without a sound, and is a pre-requisite for THE GAIT OF INFRASION.
The goal is convert your ears into more of a radar, and your energetic body into an antena. To moe through the word like a shadow, even in the night.
1- Start with the Fox stance, and proceed into the GAIT OF ATTENTION, only this time without any sound. So your centre of attention must be your hearing. Try to avoid any branches, twigs, etc, and so you may need to start very slow, especially if walking in a forest. Patience and determination are needed, and awarenes of where you are placing your feet.
2- Start stepping without letting your heels touch the ground, to minimize contact. Keep your centre of balance on your back foot, untill the moment your front foot touchs down. This will produce a floating motion as opposed to the feeling a normal gait. You will also become ware of more wildlife than you are used to seeing, as well as many new sounds you are not used to hearing.
The total attention within the sounds of the moment will bring a knowing in to focus. You will start to observe that you hear the sounds before you hear them, and know that you can anticipate every sound. You will begin to step, and then stop, because of your knowing that you are about to make a sound. You will become aware of the sounds of nature, their responces to you and the alarm calls given, etc. The benifit of this walk is well worth the patience.

GAIT OF INFRASION
The night brings on a whole new world to precieve. Many things live in the night, and the habits of the night are vary different then the waking hours. We are naturally more attentive in the night because of its darkness, and mystery, we have to also rely on our other senses more, enabling them to better fuction as well.
You can practice this walk at any time, though the darkest times are best.
A helpfull technique is to see from just 'behind your ears', focus awareness from this point. It may seem weird but it will greatly help in your pursuit. Some may think we do not have the ability to see into the darkness, but we have simply forgotten how. Remember we are rarely encountered with a situation with total lack of light, and so we can brinmg the present light into awareness and 'amplify' it, or simply focus our attention on it.
The most helpful technique I have found is keeping in mind that light can be seen as we chose, such as colours, and so when walking in daylight the practice of changing colours can build a 'knowing' that we can manipulate the energy of light. It is like riding a bike, and though it may take some time, it is well within our ability. Over time we can develop the ability to 'turn on the lights' at will.
It helps to imagine yourself as a animal of the night such as a cat, skunk, racoon, owl, fox, mouse etc.
When walking in the night it helps to focus to the darkest of places, though we will automatically look to the lightest ones.
1-Begin the Fox stance. Close you eyes, and breath deeply.
2-Open your eyes, and begin the floating technique of THE GAIT OF STEALTH
3- Begin using 'seeing behind your ears' while envisionm yourself as an animal of the night. Embrace the darkness and your surrounding as you friend, and accept the help they offer. Look into the darkest places, being alert, and aware of your body. Pay close attention to the ground in front of you, and overhead. Observe the light, and with in the moment, observe the colour of darkness lighten. This will take practice, and time. A hieghtened state of awareness will be achieved from walking, and so be patient and the moment will bring this knowing, and you will learn how to ride this bike!

If anyone has any Q's, comments, experience please feel free to add them..
I enjoy walking for many hours a day, when I can!!!!!
I find that these techniques of walking are very natural, and they start to blend together very nicely. I like to walk on the railroad tracks(kind of a combo of Child, Balance, and Attention gait), and observe that my knowing can keep me on the track, while being aware of the sounds and surroundings, then when I know I going to lose balance, or when my thoughts say something like "I am doing good" or "Am I going to fall"...I do! So then I will jump over to the other track! It is quite fun. Also to walk with friends, and hold 'conversation'.. while doing these excercises, is a great challange.

Every animal is a companion being. By connecting to animals we can obtain vast amounts of knowledge. Sadly in our modern day and age we have lost the connection we had to animals, and also have mistreated them, and destroy their homes. Luckily it is never to late to re-connect to animals, and regai our balance with our brother and sisters.
BREAKTHROUGH GAIT
"While you are outdoors, observe the animal closely. Follow it as it moves. See how nature has expressed itself uniquely in this animal. Become quiet within your mind, so that you can become sensitively aware os the animal's essence. Mentally offer your appreciative thoughts to the animal. Listen" ~Joseph Cornell
Being open to animals, and accepting their lead, is how many shamans are initiated into ancient traditions, and obtain the knowledge of animals.
Untill we can respect them, and truly see their magic, we will not be able to see them. We must go beyond simply seeing their beauty, and see them as more, as equal.
Every animal has unique lessons, and knowledge to offer. Even animals deemed 'unattractive' have unique states of awareness, and perceptions to offer us, if they so choose.
What would the animals say if they could speak, about our society? This walk opens that door. As we begin to connent with animals we will see it is an ongoing process. Animals that are not open to us, or are dangerous, will eventually be open to us, through our connection to the animals they are closest to, and so on. Also important is learning of the said animals habitat, their surrounding, where/what they eat and drink etc. The lessons you are meant to recieve will come at the right place and right time.
1- Begin with the GAIT OF ATTENTION. After your thoughts are quiet, start a recapitulation of all the moments, excluding pets, that you have had involing animals. Allow the memory to come into your mind, and feel it. If there are no memories had, simply think of today and the opportunies to develop them.
2- After recaping these moments, raise your arms, state your intentions aloud of your desire to connect with the animals of your world in a meaningful way. Say all you want to, and as long as wish.
3- Be ready and open for whichever animal is presented on your path. Walk very slowly now, untill the animal presents itself. Notice everything about it.. Feel the magic of the animal that eminates.
4- Breathe in the energy of this animals and try to precieve as it does, see the environment through it's eyes. As you do express through feeling and vibes, peace and connectiion, love, and also soft words of praise, so it understands you wish friendship. Ask for help, and lessons it has to offer..
5- If the animal leaves say farewell, and thank it greatfully. You may feel it ask to follow it, so do, and learn everything you can. Listen very closely to any feelings, or thoughts that come into mind while in encounter.
If you are having trouble connecting, it may be possible you have not reach the inner silence, or stillness needed to connect, and more walks are needed, or meditations. Building stron knowings are important. Remember to use slow body language, and to use your body also to communicate. When looking in the animals eyes, hold its gaze, but initially is wise to squint your eyes, opening and closing them, or even looking down smoothly, crouching slowing. This will tell the animal you mean peace, and are a friend. Use your feelings and not your rational mind, and no matter the animal learn everyting you can.

WIND COMMUNICATION GAIT
"Air is a atrix that joins all life together. . . . In everyday life we absorb atoms from the air that were once part of birds and trees and snakes and worms, because all aerobic forms of life share that same air. . . . The longer each one of lives , the greater likelihood that we will absorb atoms form the air that were once part of Joan of Ark and Jesus Christ, of Neanderthal people ans Woolly Mammoths. As we have breathed in our forbears, so our grandchildren and their grandchildren will take us in with their breath." ~David Suzuki
Wind touches everything at once, and serves as a vessel of information for all beings. Learning to communicate with the wind teaches us of All things, past, present, future, and everything that surrounds us. We here alter our walk to correspond with the manifestation of the Wind, and the sensations that the Wind calls into us. If you feel the Wind pushing you you may wish to let go, and go to where She will take you. If she flows against your face you may wish to raise up your palms and allow Her to flow through you, giving life and awareness, and any answers she may have to give. You could raise your arms like a bird does, and transform your walk into a flight..
1~ In a natural setting, on a windy day..
2~ Be aware of the wind entering into you and exiting you by way of breath. Be aware of what this gift means to you, and feel free to say words into the Wind.
3~ Shift attention to the Wind, be aware that She is all around you, and everywhere, surrounding all living things.
4~ Continue walking, listening to the expressions of the Wind, and all the sounds She carries to you into your ears, and into your being. Focus on odours, tastes, and sensations that She carries to you. Be aware, also, of any thoughts that come into mind.
5~ Begin to allow your body to move with the Wind, anyway it chooses to, there are no limitations. Engage in dialouge with the Wind from your body, allowing words to flow freely. Run, dance, shout, cry, spin, slow, fast, whatever come natural, express anything you have recieved from the Wind, showing Her you are listening and hearing the lessons given. Allow the Wind to walk through you.
6~ Begin evaluating your thoughts, communicative abilities, with those around you, evaluate your life, and share this with the wind through your thoughts. Discover from the Wind how to communicate to Her, and everything around you.
7~ After atleast 45 minuttes of walking with the Wind ask Her a question about your life. Watch very attentively for the answer, listen, feel, observe, and do not expect a normal method of communication. Sometimes the Wind may carry something to you, and sometimes in will gust in a series of numbers, but te Wind will communicate its answers to you in ways that are suitable for you, and you understanding. Observe and be attentive even of the movements of your body, sensations, perceptions etc.. These answers from the Wind will come throughout the Walk, you simply must observe them, and be open to seeing them. After some time of communicateing and listening to the Wind She will show herself to you visually.

3 GAIT
This gait is fantastic way to increase awareness. The more this gait is performed, as with all gaits, the more naturally it will occur.
This is a simple gait that starts with the attention gait, and is in essence an attention itself. The number 3 is often associated with gaining power, or generating force.
1- Start in the Fox stance.
2- Proceed walking in the ATTENTION GAIT.
3- With every step you take, count 3 objects in front of you, or around you, choosing different objects every time. This will eventually enable you to observe many objects in your range of perception, and will gradually increase the more you practice. Eventually you will be able to walk into any setting and observe instantly everything in the area.
5 STEP GAIT
This gait is developed by the observation of animals such as the Bear and the Fox, who rarely get caught of guard. A Bear or Fox will take approximately 5 steps and stop, to observe their surroundings. You will be surprised how, in just 5 steps, the scenery changes so very much. This gait opens one up to opportunities that would normally have been missed. Even walking this gait down the same path everyday will open you up to things you have never seen before, and practiced with other gaits, possibilly even things that noone has ever seen before. This gait id spreformed from the Fox stance, and then from the GAIT OF ATTENTION.

Nah im not scared of too much. But the common ground sorta feaks me out a bit. I always study animals again back from martial arts. The mantis, the monkey, the snake which is a too way street martial arts and a direct link to an animal i belive is a true mystic. Thank you for this area though. Ever since i looked into Gibran i can see the common ground with you and he as well. The sorcerer is a warrior...I feel like you and i are close to the same experiance level (with you being a touch ahead) and have the same path before us but maybe with differant masters. i could be wrong maybe we are the same just in a differant study. But than again you project which i dont understand why you dont talk about more. But understand i never look at anything like this as competition EVER its more of a mutual feeling that is one of the first things i read that its never to be competitive (well except Gibran and his apprentices made me feel like they compete). That makes me feel wonderful (that im not the only weirdo on the planet)....lol No really i think i try to push and hurry to much sometimes and thats dangerous i need to step back look at what was accomplished so far and tread on. Smelling the flowers and takeing the stance of the fox along the way.

I wouldn't say I am ahead. No way. You have a great deal of knowledge, and when I read your posts I gain a great deal. I have often had them speak to my spirit, during certain states awareness, giving me a great deal of power. However during these states it is difficult to type or even speak coherently, lol, and so just know that even if people/myself do not always reply, your posts do always help.
I see no two paths as the same really, though it is obvious that we share many of the same ideas.
Yes I do project, sometimes quite often, though I am much more of a 'stalker' than a dreamer. I see difficulty seperating dreams from reality, I see lucidity as a daily fuction as well as a dream OBE function. My interests have been the merging of 'astral' into daily reality, as I see no seperation, and have spent my energies in experiencing this strange phenomenon.
hehehe, sometimes I AM the only wierdo on this planet, and this..is a very powerful 'position' to 'talk'.

Thank you. Sometimes im to critical on myself maybe. again that goes back to trying to push to fast to hard. That i realize has actually slowed down the progress at times instead of helped. I feel that the stalking will follow after projection. Although i feel aspects of it popping up everywhere. I feel a primal almost wolfish sense around people like i can read them like a book before they ever speak. And than i just sit back and take the stance of the watcher/fox and watch and listen and learn. When i have a huge energy day like you were speaking of when you cannot type its almost like im outside and taking in all. I watch for reflections in the eyes and see the color and know. it feels amazing. Around wildlife and nature its just the opposite but the same...make sense?

Yes, by rushing and going to fast, or being bent on the goal, we are focused on the future, and miss the moment, and in the moment is where our intent will manifest.
Yes, you can read them like a book, no doubt, and the more self-awareness we gain allows a book with more pages.
"Reflection in the eyes".. interesting.. I can't relate with the colours, but it sounds like a good technique. I have been told that my eyes can glow red, and, well, I just love that! hA! Have you ever looked into a persons eyes, and seen another person, or thought that they seemed veeery similair? Like looking into a girlfriends eyes, and seeing an exgirlfriend, or something..? It is not really the eyes themselves but some kind of link. "The eyes are the gateway to the soul"- and they can change quite often I find, at will. So much in the eyes, I could go and on, the problem is..words. "to get lost in ones eyes" puts a whole new spin on things for me..!
"Opposite but the same"..haha. Well yeah, contradictions are everywhere it seems.. hmpt, especially when we compare people to nature, and wildlife!

Yes ohhh yes i read eyes and intent in everyone. To a point where its not even a practice anymore just natural. Yes eyes are the gate to the soul. And you can read a flash of black across the eye and into the pupil just as you can an aura (ill intent by the way). You can even find zodiac information and yes past lives or like you said the past girlfriend. Let me explain that though in some cases a women especially will have the same demon in her which will feel much the same. Like the Incubus or incubi. You will only be able to definatly tell after Sex or what ever other ego is present. If they are very far along its easy to see in her eyes. So if you see a past love or girlfriend in the eye be warned she may have some of the same traits as the ex. The same goes for men but i think it is easier to read in the opposite sex to begin with.

I can relate a little to closely with what you're saying about woman, and demons.. I have seen this. Though a thought I will add here is, and it is just a thought, we have the ability to pull the demon with us, and also out of the said person. Call it an exorcism. Yet in speaking of making agreements with demons, when we look for the demon in the eyes, I see it as making the agreement. Though it may not be in the woman, when a person if possessed with 'demons', they will often see these things in others, seeing demons everywhere, as well as other things like 'bleeding from the eyes', etc etc.
I merely use the word 'demon' as a description however, in precieving, and our ability to precieve anything, terrible worlds.

Hm yes i guess i have had some very terrible luck with women in my past. Percieving that a person is very good and strong is no differant i just chose to pick the bad side. It is possible that i do have some bad i have yet to release ok yes i know sooo. To not realize is to be lost forever. But i think at any point you know what i mean. Sometimes a women just feels all to familiar and she ends up having the same sour habits as a past love or girlfriend. Before i change the subject to much could you give me some more info on gaits is it the same as gates?

HAHAHA! You are very funny! Yes I do know what you mean!
Funny that 'gaits' and 'gates' are different words yet the same. "Gait" is often decribed as a manner of walking, and "Gate" is a doorway to another 'area', or 'room/whatever'. Put 'em both together and ya got a "Gait of Power"!
Pretty sool, to connect the two together!
