Last Wednesday, I'm sitting at my computer about 3:30 p.m. I hear what sounds like a tree branch falling on the roof. I look outside, nothing. A few minutes later I'm back at the computer when all of a sudden, BOOM! The trailor shook and it sounded like dynamite going off. I called my neighbor who said she was about to call me. We guessed it could have been a sonic boom, dynamite, or a structural collapse of something. A few months ago the same exact thing happend about the same time in the afternoon. The story was in the local paper. Town residents ran out of their homes and businesses to see what fell on their roof or what exploded. This time, it was reported In the police blotter in our local paper, people heard (on the same day I and other town residents) "blasting" going off in the towns of Waterville, Winslow, and Fairfield (Maine) around 4:00 p.m. No one knows what this strange phenomonon is, but here's a web article about it: I was out of town with this incident occured: www.boston.com/news/local/maine/articles/2006/02/24/residents_seek_answers_to_mystery_booms_and_shaking/Just bizarre. It's like living in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.

I've herad of stuff like that happening in various places. Some think it is because they are building underground cities. Why is your thread stretched out.LOL!

I think the stretching out has to do with the link I posted to the story. It didnt' cut in half when I posted it.

Hi Mandala we get this over here in Australia, especially where i was brought up in South Australia. I was told when young and whether it be true or not i have no idea of knowing, But i was told they were Sonic Booms, I would have to google to see what that really is, but we would get a shuddering not of the earth but it seemed surround us and come from everywhere then minutes later a loud Boom Like a large Bomb going off in the distance, it would shake everything. I have experienced this a number of times mainly down in South Australia. Maybe it was a large bomb going off in the distance whos knows.. But i have always thought they were what they call sonic Booms.. I do not know whether it is the same as you have experienced, which sounds as mystifying.. Hope they find out what it is!

A sonic boom is when a jet aircraft breaks the sound barrier..it is most disturbing if you have never heard it and you can actually see it when it happens too...Interesting that this occurance happens at 666 miles per hour...although the number is off just a touch.
