www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0895260166/qid=1119430347/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/102-0999749-2672158This is not a book about the porn industry. Nor is it one of those books that sensationalize a vice while only pretending to condemn it. This is a book about the state of our culture and how traditional morality has not only been abandoned, but is being actively attacked. In fact, in many cases the ideas of chastity and fidelity are being identified as part of the problem in American culture! The author of "Porn Generation" is a young man of 21 who takes his religion and its teachings on morality very seriously. He discusses frankly the state of our culture and the ways in which our young people are being exploited and sexualized for commercial and political interests. It is pathetic that the huge corporations that own the major networks and so many cable channels hide behind the idea that they peddle immorality because they need to pander to the tastes of the public in order to compete. Actually, standards have sunk so far that now they simply say they are reflecting normal behavior. They aren't, but that is what they would have you believe. Ben Shapiro also exposes the social - political agenda of many organizations and the hold they have gotten over our schools. It is beyond shocking what they would like to teach our children and do teach them in too many instances. In order to accomplish this, parental authority has had to be weakened. Of course, the popular media has played a willing role in undermining the authority of Mom and Dad. There is so much more to his tour of the culture that I have to leave it for you to read. What he does urge us to do is really common sense. We have to take back the schools, we have to turn off TV programs (especially MTV and its ilk) that promote these inverted values, we need to write the FCC, our congressional representatives, and, in short, simply don't take it any more. Frankly, it is going to take a cultural revulsion to turn things back, and it will happen one day. Until then, we have to realize it is better to light a candle than merely curse the darkness.

Potential , I agree with this to an extent, however, we do not need to sensored, I think part of the problem is in the us, we are constantly told that everything is bad and that children are "protected" and sensored from the world, I think this automaticly makes people seek the things we should not see or hear... in other cultures there is not sensored tv..and those cultures end up fine..lol in fact the japanese culture I believe is way more healthy than the us, simple because we are constantly told not to do this or that, and that sexuality is wrong... all I have to say is that yes the us is bad for all the crap on the tv, but this does not mold us, I think the more we find out about these things as children, the less we seek it as adults... so again I don't understand why we are sensored from our own rights... people will seek things out no matter what, even if the parents don't let them watch certain programs on tv... again tv does not shape us, it is our own thoughts..if humans take in tv..which alot of them do, it is their own lack of intellegence, perhaps the japanese has something over us... since it seems many people here beleives everything they see,..and do not realize tv is for entertainment... I personally think all the things of this world strip us away from our authentic selves, and perhaps keeps us from seeing the truth and why we are really here.. so technology to me is like a way for humans to keep themselves busy and turn away from the things that realy matter..living out life through our inner selves..following what has meaning..

Geez, there are some pretty heavy opinions floating around here. I'm just cruzin thru this site and found this, well, because "Porn Generation" is pretty eye catching.
Anywho, I just feel compelled to say that all we can do is change ourselves. It makes no sense to try and revolutionize and condemn people for being how they are...because our society tells everyone, including you and me, how to be. It is only through our own personal growth and hard earned awareness that we are able to look at these kinds of topics with some level of enlightenment (we can't take that awareness for granted). And that's basically my point: All we CAN do is transform ourselves. Heavy opinions will just cause more negativity than any good in the end.
That little girl with the pictures, she hasn't a clue that our society has forced her into that role. All she knows is what has been taught to her...and that boys give her a lot of attention in exchange for her behavior. Is it fair to judge her...and at such a young age? And besides, her case is extreme, but isn't that the goal of almost every woman and man in this world...to get the attention of a boy/girl. Some feminist might disagree with me, but everyone is looking for a mate unless they are on some sort of spiritual journey and choose celibacy- the only way we will ever evolve as a species...Evolve in ways other than reproductively!
Love the controversial topics...good stuff!

well said, and ya know its exaclty why our species will not evolve because we always pass judgement on others, and constantly compare...so as long as we continue to do this we won't get anywhere.. acceptance again is the first rule to understanding, if we accept we can understand and LEARN to see the good in everyone..and grow as a result.
now people are always looking for acceptance, that is why they do things they normaly woudn't do..and ya know Im pretty acceppting to that..but it seems people just don't get it..the only acceptance that matters if that of yourself to yourself..

well I think there are still many people out there looking for acceptance and love, they "think" have sex with these people will get them to like them, this is not their fault..however they need someone to show them that love comes in many forms. again many people do not grow up with love, they do not know what it is, and they try anything to get it..or they think they know what it is..ya know..its very sad, but alot of times woman do this..and they should not be looked down upon because of it..they are confused and need help im sure there are men out there that do this as well..another thing is you must consider fear out there, many people will do things they don't want to do out of fear..and again this is probably caused by lack of love or some kind of misfortune..so who are we to judge realy we have right and wrong painted for us, as soon as we enter this world..but the truth is that we all are very much the same..we just do things our own way, but I think most of us want the same things, mostly acceptance..and love.

Wow, this is so interesting. You two have such different ways of approaching the same topic. Blake1 seems passionate and also put-out by peoples' failure to see the errors of their way because it seems so simple. While LilacSky has nothing but compassion for people, recognizing that their failure to see is based on a lot of bad information and misfortune.
I think there is real danger in trying to analyze and understand other people's short-comings and low consciousness. We are all in the same boat here! We should be so busy with ourselves that we don't have the time to worry about other people's short-comings! Does it make one person better than another because they have a higher consciousness? Because they study the way the world works? Everyone has the same potential to transform themselves at any point in time, regardless of their personal history. It's all relative and constantly changing. Again, we will save a lot of energy and reduce a lot of conflict if we can display enough personal integrity and just focus on our own development...and assist others when the opportunity presents itself....just as you guys do!
I hear your frustration Blake1. Relationships are complicated...and then you are looking at the bigger picture- talk about frustrating...lol, your not a stick in the mud, but maybe a gluten for punishment...teasing sorry. You were saying that what's really bothering you is the lack of meaningful relationships and the fact that everyone is so clueless about their importance. But even among so called evolved relationships, there can be a lot of wasted energy and dysfunction. How then does one define a meaniful relationship? and is that the same for everyone? And what if you met one of these girls that had been with 20 men and she did the work to transform herself...would she still be less to you? could you consider her then? And of course, I have to ask, does the frustration stem from your own desire to be in a meaniful relationship? Or are you just making observations about one of our many societial dysfunctionalities?
I really love how honest everyone is- makes for interesting conversation!

lol, yeah your absolutely correct there spinner..I think sometimes I put too much thought into what is going on around me or certain individuals that I lack my own attention to myself..this can be very bad..however Im learning to balance this, since it is help that I wish to offer this world and perhaps the reason I choose this life, but I must consider myself as well. and for a long time I seemed to live for others, and now I refuse too..lol I am willing to sacrifice to a certain extent..and now ya know I don't have many friends because of it, In fact I let most of them go..because I felt I would give them an inch they would take a mile and I realized I was the one who is constantly giving..and yet I still do but I try to to spare my energies..lol well the only last thing I can say here is that Im fed up with judgements..and how everyone is quick to judge others without even trying to understand them..I know how it feels because it has been done to me by someone I loved, yep judged and looked down upon for my past mistakes..so in order to realy understand and learn compassion, we must put ourselves in others shoes..to see from their view..I do this often, I only wish this treatment was returned to me by certain individuals in my life..

Honestly I don't know. Maybe I should change my views. I don't know how I feel. I hope I haven't insulted anyone's views or anything else. I almost deleted my posts because I'm afraid they seem harsh and I didn't mean to seem like that and I'm not that way.

I deleted my posts because I am having second thoughts about my opinions, and I think I expressed my opinions too harshly and it made me feel uncomfortable to think that it might have been insulting.
For those whoe didn't see my posts, I was on the conservative side of the spectrum.

As usual I feel two-sided on this.
I feel it is true that the corporations are acting in a low manner, but money is what they ultimately must cater to, not morals or values.
If we -meaning the masses- didn't show an interest in porn or scantily dressed, perfectly bodied, plastic-faced celebreties, they would be forced to change strategy. But our biological programing gives us that desire.
The three most important features that will ultimately decide the survival of any species are; ability to feed, ability to adapt, and ability to reproduce. It is a low blow that the money makers are using this strength of ours and turning it into an ignorant weakness.
I agree that less media is better for keeping an open mind, but how would you fix this problem without censorship? Can we all find our way to the light, and still be an active part of this world?
I think so,
damn, nobody's perfect.

nobody's perfect ! ~ it seems people in this modern world don't want to know anyone perfect tooo !!! Speaking about porn , I heard that "The Miss America Pageant'' is no more ! ....due to lack of funding and T.v>channels not interested, but if the young teens were going to be in bathing suits , some of the channels would air the show Ok Sex sells ! the "Pageant'' ,declined the offer, as they said they were not going to show off young girls half naked on T.V. hummmm.... did you hear about this ? ~SXY~

It's all about consumerism. If we weren't insecure, we wouldn't need to buy anything. Capitalism couldn't survive if we were a country of confident, high consciousness individuals. If we did have high self esteem, we wouldn't need makeup, luxury cars, new designer clothes, jewlery, suburban homes.......to infinite and beyond.
Propaganda sucks.
