I was mentioning in another thread the idea of dream music and decided it warranted it's own. There have been countless times where I wake up from a dream that had music, but I can never truly remember the tune...I can only describe what it was like, but can't recall the true melody. In this case it is always something unique to my dream as well...not a known song from waking life. On the other hand though...I often wake with a song in my head that does exist in waking life. Interestingly enough it is quite frequently a song I barely know at all or haven't heard for years. The frustrating part with this is that never can I find anyway to relate it to my dream...the music is not part of my dream...but upon waking I can hear it as if the radio is on. Note that my alarm clock is not set to wake me up with music. Well...Just wondering what kind of experiences or insight you guys have on this topic.

Here is my 2 cent's on this topic.
I think that we enter certain dimension while we are asleep. Each dimension has it's own unique vibrational frequency that is experienced threw dreaming.

honestly I think every single human being on the face of the earth has a song or rythum within them, so sometimes we will dream of these songs that we never heard before, and I think its because that is our universal souls rythum..does that make sense? seriously that is what I think, quit unique and quit beautiful if you ask me.. because I have had many dreams where I was even playing music I never heard before, and sometimes when Im playing in real life the music actually stems from my dreams, but I have always thought music was the launguage of the soul..

Yea..that makes sense. I feel that music is the most unique and introspective art that we have. The limitations of music are quite boundless.

I believe this too Lilac. I think everyones DNA , if put to music form would be your own unique life's song.

The same thing happens to me when I dream about music I like it and I write about it. I feel that music is a part of me!

I almost forgot about this dream I had this morning till I read this post. Basically after wrecking really badly on my Rollerblades their were these kids hovered around me singing some kind of cheerful toon. I woke from this and had the toon perfectly in my head and was going to write down the letters (very weird sequence) to it so I could remember it but I fell back to sleep while thinking about this and when I woke later I had nearly forgotten that part of the dream and I can't remember the toon at all. Instead I had another one in my head but one I believe is an actual song. I don't know about you guys but I often wake with a single melody or song (regardless of whether it's a song that was already created or not) going through my head that I'll hum silently for awhile in the morning without even realizing it.
