I'm not sure these count as meditation technqiues, or if they are more subjects during meditation, but I enjoy them.
The first I like to imagine a solitary yellow butterfly fish in tropical waters. As I progressively relax, I try to become the fish. I feel how the ocean currents slide past, the surf sways me; I see the web-like flashes of sunlight through the water, the bright yellow of my scales; sometimes I see clearly the sky through level planes in the facets of the waves. I notice how it feels to have big, round eyes that always watch above and below, turning. How it feels to have lacy fins swirling stability in this bouyant environment. Usually I just hover in the shallows above coral, or I glide smoothly to the surface to feel increase in the warmth of the sun.
The second meditation I picture an eye. It is surrounded by a triangle. From that triangle blooms a mandala of geometric shapes that move and shift color, like a fractal kalaediscope. I feel the eye centered on my forehead (on the inside), and the complexity of the shapes surrounding it shifting in currents of energy outward from there.
The more I relax, the stronger images become, though sometimes they take on details of their own, or suddenly shift into random views. I try to keep focus on the meditation image, but if it changes, I don't let myself become agitated.

Hi Mactombs,
I like both of these, the first I found very very tranquil, the second seems to be an excellent release for subconscious imagery.
I tried them both and thoroughly appreciated them thanks.
I will share a couple of similar techniques, when I write the section in the article on visualisation.
I think then it would be nice if we could continue adding tried and tested visualisation subjects to this thread, so people may easily choose a little variety in their subjects.
Thanks Mactomb’s.

Depending on the weather, I really like to employ the senses to the hilt. If it's raining and it's night time, I meditate with the water element. During the winter when I have a fire going, I'll do some Mars work; summer months I tend to stay indoors and listen to the wind or watch whatever objects move within and close my eyes and just be at peace. Because I have a greenhouse, the earth element is obvious.
Every day I meditate on a tarot card; I meditate on a deck first to see which one calls me then shuffle it.

cool Silerstar, Tarot cards huh, I used to use them for meditations but that was when I was learning the cards, but it does give you alot of insight and allows you to grasp more than just the cards meaning... I like to use the Empress alot, and the high priestess.

Cool meditations guys.
I usually just see what I see and go with it. A few weeks ago I caught a glimpse of a monk cleaning a small temple. This was his peace temple, and he instructed me that I needed to build my own. So, I will meditate on building a wall, and each brick is a source of anger, aggression, or other problem. These problems I let go as I lay the bricks. I don't lay very many bricks during one session, but I'm making progress. Hopefully one day my peace temple will be complete, it will be open for all.

hey mactombs, i tried your eye-triangle meditation, i like it. i just imagined a circle inside of a triangle (i forgot to make it an eye), anyway it automatically stimulated my "third eye" or brow chakra. i immediately felt a slight pressure there and the more i focused on the triangle, the more i could feel this on my brow. it's interesting, i wonder if certain geometric patterns correspond to physical body locations. Good meditation dude!

That's how I came up with the meditation for the triangle and eye. It was pretty much random, but it had a strong effect on me as well, so I decided to try it more.
That's a good question about different shapes for different centers. I believe in some of the illustrations I have seen for chakras, it has different patterns for different centers. It would be interesting to experiment with.
