Greetings fellow travellers. My name is Rich Mooney, and I have been doing meditative arts since I was a young child. Thru the years I have trained with some very helpful individuals, and have gained much in the way of knowledge and results over the years I have walked the earth in this incarnation. I began with raja yoga at the age of 12 or so, and then got into qigong as a serious practitioner in 1987. At that time I got involved with taiji ruler method, a 7 stage daoist practice that has imbued me with youth and also healing ability, as well as additional martial arts skills. I have trained with Delores Krieger in Therapeutic Touch, and also have trained in Reiki with a Third generation master. In 1993 I trained with Paul Dong in Buddhist Standing meditation, or zhan zhuang. I am now close to 45 years of age, and appear as if I am in my late 20's. I credit the practice of qigong with saving my life and sanity after having sustained many injuries over the years, most of which were a result of military service. I thank the creator of this website for allowing me the pleasure of speaking with like minded persons whose world(s) are neither just black or white, but of many colors and of many places. Peace, Abundant Health, and Happiness to you all. Respectfully and Sincerely Yours, Rich Mooney

if any of you desire information concerning reiki, external qi healing, therapeutic touch, buddhist or daoist methods, please feel free to ask, and I will see if that information is available to me, and present it to you via email or here on the forum.
I am presently in Germany, and it has been some time since I have actively engaged in healing work, however, just on a whim I decided to do some work on a martial arts colleague who had a sore lower back in the l4 l5 area. I did this while she was driving the car.
I used waiqi, or external qi for this. In a matter of moments my left hand heated up to quite a temperature, a sure indication of energy flow. she commented how hot her back was feeling; this being in a cold audi at night time in Germany, where the temp was 0 celcius. when we arrived at our destination she remarked how good her back felt, and then said that she had also noticed that the windows of the car had fogged up very fast as well.
That was fun to do. A few days later, this same person had a bit of pain in her left knee. I offered to help, as she obviously had some pain going on. She said no, since she felt that cold packs did better for4 her than the heat. so I said OK. She looked at me incredulously, as did the other friends in the room who were watching this with great interest. So, through my legs and the crown chakra/bai hui point I pulled in the coldness of my surroundings and presented ice cold energy to her knee.
I worked on her for about 5 minutes when I felt the need to break off contact, and I had all in the room feel my hand, arm, and abdomen. all were ice cold to the touch, even colder than the room itself.
Her knee felt much relieved after that.
So, those are some examples of what I have been up to in Germany.
I will add her name and situations to my journal, where I have over 750 incidents recorded.
peace to you all.

Hi Rich, wow, you have an exciting life!! interesting,.... I have a few questions for you, I am thinking of going into the healing arts, such as holistic and theraputic massage, do you know anything about these healing techniques? I suppose I am trying to find the best field to go into, or perhaps combine a few, I realize that natural healing is comeing back , and more and more are seeking such ways for healing.
Also when first starting out with energy, what would you suggest to someone?
Thanks Rich!

My best advice is to do some serious backround research into the field you intend to train in. find others in the same field and ask them about pros and cons.
An informed mind is a satisfied mind.
thanks for the comments of my life. it sure is a continuing adventure:)
the easiet field of healing to start off in is hands down, Reiki BUT make sure you find someone who is a dedicated healer, and that they are not the type to be spinning off into the vapors at any given moment. healing is serious work, and people do not expect, nor should they, a whacko spewing platitudes. IMHO, a healer is a person, who, by calling or desire, has an intent to do good and to perform good acts.
do not seek to become wealthy. first off, it smacks of carnyism at its very worst, and at the least is a conflict of interest. If a client wishes to compensate you for yours fine attentions, a good dinner somewhere would be nice, a donation to one's fave charity is another.
If they insist, take the proffered remuneration with humility!
after finding a good reiki instructor, get into therapeutic touch. A nice weekend seminar should not run your finances into the ground.
average prices for reiki attunements should be no higher than 125 for first, 225- 250 for 2nd and 350 to 500 for reiki master attunements.
do not fall for personality cults or the dreaded 10,000.00 price tag from some reiki groups.
If you are going to become a serious healer, then serious sweat and effort will come next, learning an external qi healing method takes time, sweat and a few years of hard work, after which you will have the tools and skills to begin your journey into helping people to feel well again.
the best thing I do is to remove pain. when pain is removed, the body can get into healing mode without the distraction that pain provides against healing.
If any have an interest, perhaps a weekend seminar for the group would be in order, moderators should please contact me off the list for details for such a venture.
anyway, I hope my answers have been satisfactory for your inquiries.
peace to you all.
rich
best wishes.

That's cool As you know I have an interest in the ani-aging benefits of these practices... I would be interested to know why you credit your youth to taiji ruler more than Lin Kong Jing (if you do)... you stopped doing taiji ruler in 1993 right? Are there aspects to that practice that are especially beneficial for anti-aging purposes somehow? Obviously your aging process has not accelerated or anything since you switched to L.K.J., but I heard you mention taiji ruler as a main reason for your youth before.

thanks Rich, I will look into reiki, honestly I don't know of any healers, but there are a few schools around me that I have been looking into, I do want to heal people, I think It would be a great reward, I would want to create my own style of healing as well and combine a few things, such as aromatherapy, massage and holistic, I have seen where there are weekend seminars, there are tons around here, I will check into those as well. thanks for the advice,

I still do ruler! and yes, I attribute youthful appearance and feeling to ruler. it gave me healing ability and lkj ability before all other methods I trained seriously in. I had been introduced into rudimentary methods by my kung fu master back in the 1970s, but these were hard qigong methods for fighting, and not primarily for age reduction and health. my ruler grandmaster lived to be 114. my goal is 150. time will tell hehehehe. I have great blood pressure and other attributes for a person of my age, and illness rarely hits me, such as flu and other things. the downside is that when something does get in, it is really wicked bad. Hi Rich, I was wondering if there were any simple healing methods to practise on myself perhaps, I know that I have my own way of healing myself, but I would like to know how to heal simple things like common cold symptoms and flu as well as muscle pain, aches or headaches. I would appreciate any suggestions

it is hard to heal oneself, at least according to my experiences.
one has to go outside ones self and treat as you would someone else.
for simple issues, colds and the like, visualise yourself as healed, not healing, for if you see the work and not the result, the job will never ever get done.
when I have a rare cold or stuffed up nose, I send a lot of energy (personally subjective) to the area, and I flood the area, and then give it a way out, like flushing a clogged toilet with heavy chemicals so the plug cant hold the weight.
thats the best I can tell you. it is work, and is not easy, but has given me good results the few times I have had to use it.
for other times, well, I have trained students to heal, and once in a while they can work on the teach for a change.... hehehehehehe
peace to you all

interesting, I do some of my own healing, I make my own herbal teas, from dried herbs and I also put medicine in the tea sometimes, I also take streaming baths, and I envision the sickness leaving my body through the steam, and into the air, I must say that these methods have worked for me, for some reason if Im in pain, severe heat seems to help, like if I have a headache I put a wet rag into the microwave and heat it up for a bit, than I press it on my head.
thanks Rich

From RichSince I have been doing energy training I have had no illness whatsoever. In the summer before last, I was doing energy training off and on because of my back issue, and I was also dating a girl who turned out to have mono. She found out after I had been dating and I didn't stop dating her, and I still never got it. There was also a time during that general time, when I was around my family, and everyone got sick but me. The last time my brother was sick I tried to get him to bet me $100 that he couldn't make me sick by breathing on me, but he didn't bet me. lol That would be kinda gross anyway, but I bet I could get some money out of the deal

Hi people. I have been going through my files, as I have been getting more emails relating to my External Qi Healing (Waiqi Liaofa) program, and also the other methods that I have had exposure to, experience with, or developed skills in. I went through my Healing Journal, which I highly recommend that every healer have & keep, and have come to the following conclusions: 1: Most external qi healing treatments I have given have been for minor ailments, injuries, and pains. 2: There have been a number of people desiring healing, on the outside, but who do not wish to be healed within. These people get attention from others and use their malady, or injury, and are therefore the center of attention in their social and familial setting. To get healed is to relinquish the attention of which they have become the center of. 3: I have found a small number of people who have had documented medical diseases, who truly desired healing, that have come to me for healing, and have achieved their goals: The first person was a high school student who dearly desired to be healed, so he could achieve his desire of playing high school, and later, college Basketball. He had Osgood Schlatter disease. see www.osgood-schlatter.com/treatment.htmlHe was healed after 3 sessions, and wnet on to realise his goal. Another was a woman who developed Shingles after swimming the English Channel. She had been a vibrant mom to her kids, and a power dynamo to her family. Shingles totally debilitated her to the point she was bed ridden for long periods. She and her husband heard of my through mutual acquaintances. They drove north from Houston to my home. An 8 hour drive. After working on her problem for 2 days, and then giving her a specific qigong regimen to follow thereafter, sent her home, after realizing good results from the sessions. She worked diligently with the qigong exercise I had shown her, and after about 4-5 months, she contacted me again and said she was fully healed, and had gained enough strength back to sign on to run a Marathon in her area. Another woman had broken her ankle so badly that they had to install a metal pin (screw?) in it to keep it together so she could have a measure of mobility, with a walker. The problem was, the doctor was told that under no circumstance was steel to be used since she had to have pins in her arm from a fall years prior, and she was proved to be allergic to the metal. She specified that she must have a titanium pin. They put in a steel pin. I worked on her for a day, and at the end she was able to go to eat dinner with us. many months later we got a letter from her, in which she related that the pain and severe itching and swelling were totally gone, and she resumed her normal life, and walked without trouble. The last I will discuss was a woman brought to me by a self professed skeptic. The woman had a platelet disease where in even a lit grab to her wrist would result in a huge black and blue bruising that would last for many days after. Since she practiced Aikido, many people, out of fear for her health, would deign not to train with her. I worked on her mind, and her body, and taught her a qigong method for her condition. After the weekend, she and her skeptic friend were amazed at the results. The skeptic friend watched the entire process, and to show this friend I was "on the level"; I treated the woman without even touching her. I stayed about an inch or so above her skin throughout the time I worked on her. Some months later I got an email from her skeptic friend saying that she did not know "what" I did to her, but it "seemed" to have greatly alleviated her gross bruising problem. She still got bruised, but they were not nearly as big, and did not take nearly as long to heal as they previously did. 4: In a majority of cases, I found that women, far more than men, composed a majority of the people I had the privilege of treating through the 7 years I maintained a journal. 5: in some cases I used strictly External Qi, others required a combination of pranic healing in conjunction with External Qi, and still others required either a combination of External Qi, with a variety of hand forms used, and a qigong method to train in to help strengthen their qi. Others I treated with Reiki, and External Qi. This is but a small brief on the things i have done with external qi. PLUS, LET THE FACT BE KNOWN THAT I N E V E R E V E R CHARGED A FEE, OR SUM OF MONEY, OR OTHER EXCHANGE OF GOODS / SERVICES IN EXCHANGE FOR WHAT I DID WITH THOSE WHO CAME TO ME FOR HEALING. SOME, VERY FEW IN TOTAL, DEIGNED TO GIVE A LOVE OFFERING BECAUSE THEY FELT INTERNALLY COMPELLED TO DO SO. I TOOK THE MONEY GIVEN AND TOOK THOSE WHO GAVE IT TO DINNER, AND LEFT THE REMAINDER AS A TIP TO THE PERSON SERVING US. If any wish to comment, or reply to me directly, I would enjoy further discourse from the curious, the other healers, adepts and tyros. Thank you. RM2013

Dear Lilac Sky; First off, I offer my heartfelt condolences for the suffering your mom is going through. As far as what "I" heal, I feel I am more of a light in the center of a town, red, green and yellow.
I do not heal anything, I release myself to be a conduit for the energy I can summon up, following any and all manner of healing skills I am skilled with. I see a bad knee, I feel what they need, I let the energy flow as its needs direct.
I had a young boy, the son of a student who trained at a martial arts facility in Tennessee, who at a young age, only 7, who had contracted a rare form of testicular cancer. The chemo and radiation treatments were exhausting him. This man asked me if I could help. I agreed to do what I could.
He brought his son down to the martial arts school after a treatment, and he had a very tired look about him, sweating with exhaustion, breathing was difficult. It broke my heart to see a young child suffer like that. I had him lay his son down on a massage table they held there for me for when I visited, which was quite often. I worked on him myself for a long time. I felt his whole physical and energetic body need to be cleansed and refreshed, so I worked strictly on his head, chest and groin area.
The child had gone to sleep shortly after I started working on him, and that was a good thing, as he had had a difficult time sleeping, and the cancer treatments were debilitating and painful to him.
He had a constant fever due to the radiation treatment. The man took his son home and told me the next day that his son got up later that evening bounding with energy and wanting to play.
This student was astounded with the results, and I was just happy to do what I could do. I taught the student energy healing qigong, and he then took over treating his son, and of course when I came down, I would work on him too. His son ran to me like a long lost relative, and gave me a great hug. I was happy to see him up and running around.
The doctors did not give his son much of a chance since it had metastasized through his body, but his father and I worked on him alot, and I had also taught the school members how to do the healing qigong, and this student brought his son with him to school every time to be worked on. He would go to sleep, and the next time he awoke he was always full of energy.
He lived 1.5 to 2 years longer, which was way longer then the time the doctors had said he would last, and the student was happy he was able to spend as much quality time with his son as he was able to. His son died in his arms. He just went to sleep, and was gone. No pain, just peacefully. His son was named Eric. The father still keeps in touch with me and has thanked me profusely for having had such a positive impact on his, and his child's life.
Working on cancer, of any kind, is always a dicey situation. As a healer, we can never truly expect to have the kind of results we seek, that always being the best for those whom we come into contact with. Sometimes the cancer(s) are come due to a long life of abuse, abuse of the soul, spirit, body, or others. Some get cancer as a life ending message that says "you treated too many people like shit, now its your turn to feel the sum of that pain"
Some are very weak willed, and fall victim to many forms of dissipation, drug and / or alcohol abuse, the organs can no longer sustain all the damage, and cancer ends all their pains for them, some go quicker, some linger on for a time.
In choosing to work on someone with cancer you must use one of the methods all good healers use: listen to what their life was like, how much pain they endured, what shocks they have dealt with. Letting them vent like this is also a means of helping the healing process. Not all people are meant to die of cancer, and working on them, filling them with as much inner light and energy you can give them is like letting open air heal a wound on the skin, rather than cover it up in so much antibiotic and bandages that it turns the injury toxic.
Next you should find out where their pain is; if it is all over, work on the major chakra / dan tien on the fron of the body. allow their body to absorb as much as it can. If you are working on the cancer soon after it is discovered, it is possible to give them the strength to survive. If it is terminal, do what you can to ease their passing into the void.
Sometimes you will find your life has been enriched by knowing them, sometimes you will learn a life lesson from doing selfless work.
I wish I could have taught you what I know to help you with her.
Best Wishes to you and her.

first off thank you very much for your story and help, it was very touching. I may move this thread if you dont mind in the place it belongs not that it matters much lol, but Im kinda anal about topics and subjects and where they belong for better forum searches I suppose
soo what was your job exactly did you teach qigoing? or some type of martial arts? hope i didnt miss that in your post. also i agree about the majority of what you said about treating people like shit etc...but how much of that adds up if a child dies still?
I must say the hardest thing I ever saw was a child in a casket, it broke my heart, and I always wondered why such a thing would happen to such a young soul, her name was angel.
I beleive in fate, you create your own fate as you go, but dying of cancer or like angel dying from a born disease where she couldnt grow anymore, i mean what is the difference really?
I get frustrated at life and how crappy things turn out even how hard you try to be a good person.
anyway, for my motherI just wanna say shes the strongest human I know on this planet lol, and shes also not the most positive person, but she is the most giving and I see it all the time, not just to me ya know cuz im her child, no she is constantly giving to others and she also choose to live this life for others in all ways, she gives and gives and doents receive and honestly I think about it all the time and I dont know why but it makes me sick kinda. like im about to fall in tears right now just thinking about my mother and how much she gives to others with no return, other than myself and siblings.
my mom is poor always has been and she gives, she sets things outside her halllway and puts a free sign on it lol. but one thing that must be addressed now is that when she was a teenager her younger brother got shot and died, and my mom and her 2 year younger sister was left with my grandparents, now my grandparents obvously didnt take it well when their 13 year old son died, so at those times I beleive they didnt know how to deal with it so they took it out on my mom and aunt...however my mom used adversity and changed that coldness to love for her four kids, which I think my aunt still struggles a bit with things dealing with that entire past of her life. I think my mom learned how painful it was and took as she didnt want any of her kids nor family to go through that and just gave us love as kids, we all grew up without a father as well, so my mom deserves some kind of a award for rasing four kids and having that abuse in her history and taking it and making it nothing but love and giving of oneself. Now after her parents are gone, she is battling cancer, and it is only me and my twin sister left close to her to help her which we do all the time. Its very hard to see such a kind giving soul go through this, and i pray everyday that something comes back to her that she has given. so this is a very delicate situation, because she deserves the world and she would give it to me if she could, soooo I want her to have it first lol now see Im thinking about things, she never took care of herself always others sooo, maybe thats why.. I guess we cant explain why people suffer of what they do. I always belevied in a randomness in this world, random, raw energy that we cant alter, and leads me to many beliefs. I dont know what to do to help my mom but laughter and fine foods and basicly the things life has to offer , so when her time comes shes content..but I wont be content knowing she lived for everyone but herself...so perhaps the wound is deeper than i thought from her brother dying and her parents neglecting her from love., god i sound so foolish saying this because i know her so well. she fakes all the time, that she feels okay for one and the next day shes in the hospital. my older sister is a nurse, anyway she is one i look up to in everything, she told me she dont think well have my mom much longer, and that just broke me cuz thats all I had was my ma , my dad died when i was 9 from alcoholism anyway, thanks for listening and trying to help, I appreciate it. and im just gonna try to keep her laughing:)

Dear Lilac Sky;
Thanks for your reply. please let me know where these postings will wind up:). Unfortunately I still suffer from brain damage due to the ministrations of a drunk driver that hit me in 1983, while stationed in heaven at Fort Ord California.
As far as qigong; I owe my life to it. After being hospitalized for almost a year (Lettermen Army Medical Center-LAMC) I was retired due to injuries received. I got no rehab. They kind of forgot about that. They had no kind a rehab into civilian life program. I bought a HD with the insurance money (part of it anyway), well I was too wiped out physically to do any sort of training. I was ripped out emotionally.
My wife at the time would not deal with my personality change, so she divorced & abandoned me. I wound up heading back east, thinking that my dad, alcoholic, prescription pill junkie, and Cop would have some mercy on me after all those years, and well I did.
Nothing could have been (sadly, so sadly) further from the truth. He immediately started charging me rent, did not do a damn thing to even try to understand what happened to my mind. I found a biker watering hole some miles away and met a bunch of bikers who were, like me, veterans.
I also discovered the joys of coke, and I don't mean the rival to pepsi; and a whole host of other diverting things.
Needless to say my body was still whacked, I had migraine upon migraine. So, I self medicated myself into a passing good stupor of various powdered and liquid chemicals.
By the time my body was healed up enough to work out, my mind was still gone with the wind with the meds, and the ongoing mental and emotional disabilities which i have to this day.
I finally became a bouncer at some of the worst dives you might find in NY and NJ. In my sick thinking I felt that if I were able to harm some patron, to the point where they felt worse than I thought I did, that made me feel better. I let my life slide that way for a few too many years. Then I got shot. That to me was a karmic wake up call.
I threw a dart at an American map, and decided where it landed, I will go.
It landed down south, and so I went. I wrote one of my former martial art masters and told them what I have essentially related here. He reminded me of an exercise we used to do before class, and sent me more information on it in written form. I could not remember much beyond 5 minutes at that time, so I am glad that the time it took to get into the exercises took less than 5 minutes.
After 90 or so days, my life turned around. I weened myself off of a few years of booze and dope, became ravenous as far as food went, gained back a good weight after looking like a ghost for a few years. I shed a lot of emotional garbage also, all this was very cleansing for me. Qigong had saved my life. about a year later I asked my former teacher for more info on the style I was practicing, and was glad to find it ran long and deep.
So I started to practice with a vengeance, devoting hours per day to the training. I also decided to get my mind and body back in the martial arts as well, and started to recall all my training I had done from 1970 through to 83, and wrote up a manual of sorts. It looked good, so I started taking on students. I taught for over a decade, my guys and I won many many trophies, to the chagrin of many other schools and promoters. My first time in competition I won 5 medals, after a while I had enough of combat like that, and went more to the healer side of things, as I believe I related above.
anyway I digress. Your mom sounds very powerful in spirit, I still, to this day leave things out at the edge of the street, they are taken very quickly and I feel good about that.
I think your love for her will help to power her up, for a while at least. I hope that you take advantage of working on, and being with her. When anyone's time is near, those with a terminal illness, I have found, is that they suddenly gain a bit of energy and clarity. This is their Yang energy rising and leaving them, during which time they should normally prepare themselves and their loved ones for the end. many squander this time thinking they are on an upswing, and with a few weeks to a month, they just get suddenly worse, go into coma and are gone.
I know about the sadness of a seeing a child in a casket. I like to think that their time on earth was not yet right, and they get recalled until later.
I wish you and everyone else the very best of all things. I deal with my fight on a daily basis with many issues. I got to have a positive outlook, for the reverse of it plain out sucks!
Rich
