Sometimes I have feelings where I can sense who will win an election or what film will win the oscar, etc. As far as those feelings that may be a premonition of some horrible event, I block them and convince myself I'm under stress or that it was only a bad dream.
I do think we all have feelings of doom or dread. I think it (intuition) is part of our genetic makeup. As I mentioned above, people also develop defense mechanisms to deal with these feelings.

This sort of reminds me of a book I own called "The Power of Now" by Eckart Tolle.
It's about keeping your mind in the present, not the future or what happend to you in the past. It sounds easier than it is. However, I always go back to Tolle's book and catch myself when I'm ruminating too much.

You have my sympathies. I lost a beloved cat of 15 years. I know your pain.

My spiritual practice involves keeping a dream journal. I also attend a dream discussion group once a month. And of course, visiting boards like this one!

But lets say i go out. Just by pressing the botton to walk across the street i beleive can change SOOO many lives. Very tiny example: one of the cars would have collided with someone who was running a red, but becuase i pressed the botton things turned out different. Maybe thats all i was put here for to save someones life one day while crossing the street. Just my thoughts. Cheers Kelly That's kind of a positive spin to my "getting hit by a bus." Nice! I tend to be too pessimistic.

Is it fate that we as a species still make the same barbaric mistakes our forefathers made, or do "we" have the free will to change our ways? I for one have made a conscience decision never to come to this plane again after this final life, will fate allow me to do so, or is this truly a cycle where we are bound by laws the cannot be broken. I could go on but I'm sure my point has been made. Interesting. It seems to me that history repeats itself. Governments and civilizations come and go, and many times it's because of destruction, either at their own hands or some others. So, the question is, will humankind ever become enlightened enough to survive without destroying itself? Or are we as a species doomed for destruction? Talk about fate!!

I believe that death is certainly fate. Some things in one's life can't be controlled such as your birth parents, country your born into, race, economic status, and gender.
Everything else is pretty much determined by life choices. Sometimes a person may choose to leave a few minutes early to catch a bus and get hit by a car, for example. Is that fate? I think that would be an unfortunate coincidence of the car and the person being at the corner at the same time, but not fate.
Fate doesn't make sense to me. What's the point of existence at all if one's life is already planned in advance? I'm not talking about something like an arranged marriage, but when that person will die and how. Then what becomes of free will and choice?

Interesting. I've had a similiar experience in a dream. I became lucid and told a man it was my dream. He was a doctor and was caught abusing a patient when I told him off. Much to my surprise, he told me in no uncertain terms to go f*ck myself. I had just told him it was my dream, and he was hearing none of it!

I require seven to eight hours to feel my best. I find that those nights where I'm restless and can't sleep, those are the nights when I have the most vivid dreams, and yes, sometimes lucid. I tend to dream more, but deep sleep much less. I'm groggy the next day.

Fascinating dream!
The old lady could represent inner wisdom. The locked huts could represent what is buried in your sub-consciousness and the wise inner you wants to explore.
The cop could represent authority. Judging by what happens to him, he has no authority in your sub-consciousness (locked huts).
The girl and her father that live in the house that's in better condition could represent your outer world of school, occupation, or where you grew up. This part of the dream, to me, feels like a conflict between family ties or obligations and wanting to go your own path.
The warped window and hut is interesting. This could be your consciousness breaking in and protecting you from discovering too much too soon.

Well favorite, do you want to have a dream based on the fantasy? Then what you could try is to tell yourself before sleep and while drifting off, is that you want a dream about the fantasy. It might help to be specific too, a dream about one of the characters or settings.
My theory to why you haven't dreamed about the fantasy could be you don't have an "issue" with it, there isn't anything in the fantasy that your subconscious needs to work out---no conflict that requires your attention and no problem that is plaguing your subconscious. You may also have worked out some issues within the fantasy itself.
You may have had elements of the fantasy in your dreams but may not have remembered them or did not recognize the symbolism of it.

You are probably correct. You know the couple and if he feels a third child would be a burden, then the dream fits. Also, since one child is not his biologically, maybe he does have subconscious fears that this one on the way may not be his and worries about it having a disability. She may not have cheated on him, but maybe he thinks otherwise.

Do they have other children? If so, Shawn could be the name of one of the child's friends. Does the child's friend have a disability of some kind?
Which leads me to the other point. The strange man having sex with his wife could mean the husband fears an "invader" such as autisim, mental retardation, or some kind of condition that the unborn child could have. The strange man represents something unnatural coming into the unborn child.
Is there a particular disease or inherited condition in his family history?

Interesting.
I've always been fascinated with stories of sightings and encounters. I think as a result, there was a period when I had a lot of UFO dreams. They were not as benign as yours however, but more frightening. I have them much less frequently now.
From my experience, I had them in a transitional period in my life when I was questioning my belief system (it has changed since the dreams) and I think the UFO's were a metaphor for the unknown, which can be frightening. Something for which we cannot control.

I've never OBE and I don't control lucidity when it happens. So, in my dreams, if I do see myself (as an observer in the dream,) I don't look exactly like me--I may be a child or a female that looks quite different but I know it's me. So I picked the last option.

yeah, what crazycat said.
I'm usually apprehensive in my bodies of water dreams even though I love the water in waking life. I've also noticed many times when I'm actually in the bodies of water, the water is in a faraway place such as another state or country and the water is choppy and littered with debris. The only man-made pool dreams I can recall at the moment were when I was outside them, either watching them spill open or not being able to climb the latter to get in them.

That sounds like an experience I get occasionally. It's in the middle of sleep, either REM or stage 4 and my experience is a feeling of terror, followed by a falling sensation (I can actually feel this) and I'm going down a deep well or basement made of concrete. As I fall, I'm also spinning, like a record on a turntable---for those of you old enough to remember turntables!

That's happened to me before. I noticed when I drift and hear the TV, the voices and background noise becomes much sharper and crystal clear. It's almost like the sound is penetrating through me and I'm not distracted by other stimuli. Then the sound seems to get louder and it wakes me out of that trance state.
